On Wednesday, we hosted our first #LuminousMelb2024 Lantern Parade inspired by our friends from Multicultural Australia in Queensland. We were expecting 150 people, but our community and partners showed their support and well over 350 people walked the street around the Multicultural Hub and Queen Victoria Market holding their lanterns to celebrate diversity while welcoming new members of our community. Special thank you to our supporters City of Melbourne, cohealth and Beyond Blue and to the team of volunteers who worked to make this marvellous event possible.

Whether it's a wedding, a team building day, a corporate event, or a gala, there is a great temptation to enjoy the fun and beauty of an outdoor space to make your summer event memorable. With record heat forecast for this summer, there are things you can do to minimize the heat's impact. But those things change your event and add to your expenses. Check out this article from Bride's to learn more about all your options, including the best one, which might be moving your event indoors to a venue whose greenbelt perimeter and floor to ceiling windows give you the benefits of an outdoor event without the challenges. https://lnkd.in/g5RNFxwa Want to know more? My inspiration for this inaugural event came from my deep connection to professional sports and the respect I hold for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, which honors NFL athletes for their excellence both on the field and in their communities. In the same spirit, the CHANGE AGENTS OF PHOENIX event was created to celebrate real estate professionals who excel in their field while also making a lasting impact beyond their transactions. In real estate, where authenticity is key, I believe greatness extends far beyond exceptional performance in transactions. True greatness enriches an agent’s work and purpose—it embodies the ability to think beyond individual deals, to give back, and to positively influence the communities that support them. My mission is to elevate real estate and showcase how the industry, through its unique relationship capital, can serve at a much greater capacity—transforming lives and communities through our everyday business responsibilities. A select few outstanding local agents, nominated and voted on by my event partners and industry peers, have been named this year’s CHANGE AGENTS for exemplifying these core values: - Create Impact Beyond Transactions: Using their success to drive positive change. - Embody Core Values: Integrity, purpose-driven action, and collaboration. - Lead with Inspiration:Their stories inspire meaningful service. - Serve the Phoenix Metro: Dedicated to improving their local communities. - Engage Online: Amplifying their impact through a strong online presence. Their stories are inspiring, and we can’t wait to walk alongside them and honor their dedication and lasting contributions. Next month’s event will be an exclusive, private gathering held at a custom spec home still under construction, thoughtfully planned in partnership with my builder partner Living Stone Builders and Brian North of North&Co. This intimate setting will provide the perfect backdrop to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our honorees and the genesis of what’s to come. #changeagent #changeagentsofphx #realestate #homesforgood #phoenix #scottsdale #paradisevalley #arizona Real https://lnkd.in/gg4BSY6v

One of my favourite events of the year at Rakuten.ca. In today's fast-paced, technology-driven world, it's easy to get caught up in metrics, deadlines, and deliverables. But let's not forget the most crucial element of any successful organization: the people. Humanizing your team isn't just a nice-to-have; it's a must-have. Here's why: Boosts Morale and Engagement: When team members feel seen and valued as individuals, their motivation and engagement levels soar. They’re more likely to go the extra mile and contribute their best work. Fosters Innovation: A culture that celebrates diverse perspectives and encourages open communication leads to creative problem-solving and innovation. When people feel safe to express their ideas, magic happens. Builds Trust and Loyalty: Trust is the foundation of any strong team. By showing genuine care and empathy, leaders can build lasting relationships that withstand challenges and change. Enhances Collaboration: Humanized teams are more cohesive. When people understand and respect each other’s strengths and weaknesses, collaboration becomes seamless and more effective. Improves Well-being: A supportive and understanding work environment contributes to the overall well-being of team members. This not only reduces stress but also promotes a healthier work-life balance. Remember, at the heart of every successful project, every innovative idea, and every milestone achieved, are people. Let’s make sure we’re not just managing teams, but truly leading and humanizing them. #Leadership #TeamBuilding #HumanizeYourTeam #WorkplaceCulture #EmployeeEngagement #EmpathyInLeadership
Yesterday, our team AND their families gathered at Earl Bales Park for what we like to call a Day-O-Fun! This annual event is one of our favourites of the year as we not only get to bond as a team, but we get to know their families as well.

I have a confession to make: Even as someone who loves 1-on-1's and advocates for social connection, it can be really hard sometimes... and those coffee dates don't always happen. Just when you think you have a time and place nailed down to catch up with that person you've been dying to reconnect with, life happens. Someone's kid gets sick, or there's a last minute calendar change, or any number of things go sideways. I think "Oh, no worries, I'll just get in touch with them tomorrow and reschedule..." then another urgent issue comes up. Suddenly, it's six weeks later and I'm a horrible person. Am I the only one? If you're someone I've struggled to catch up with lately, instead of beating ourselves up about it, why not meet me at the next LinkedInLocal Auckland? We can reconnect before Xmas, you'll be treated to quality speakers and hosting by Stuart and Keri, and I guarantee you'll meet some awesome new people. #networking #auckland #movember
We would be very grateful if you could all support us and share the link to purchase a LinkedInLocal Auckland ticket for November. The earlier people pick up their tickets the better. https://lnkd.in/gZg2z7Ns

Recently was “bombarded” by the algorithm on social media about public goodness….. in particular about folks all dressed to the Ts representing companies, orgs or political parties touting involvement in public good at staged speeches or high-end hosted dining events, etc. Convincing? IMHO not! The promotion of altruism or good causes shouldn’t be a projection of seemingly counterproductive glamourous imageries against the orginal organizational intent. Do not forget that you are not “the star” but the cause is. The most shining example of #PublicGood or be involved in a #CompanyOfGood is still this:
Jimmy Carter has a long history with Habitat for Humanity – even pitching in on builds in his 90s
