This is a slap in the face! I am lost for words. This recommendation will hurt patients. Goodbye to patients receiving a rebate or being bulk billed when choosing to see a NP via telehealth (and has not seen them face to face). When will they begin to try to understand what a NP is or does? I can't even... It is time to make yourselves heard, Nurse Practitioners. Clearly, MRAC do not have an inkling of what we do in practice and how much this will affect the Australian public. Write to your local members of parliament, senators, in particular Mark Butler. We must ensure this does not become legislated. I don't usually share Change dot org petitions, because their business model is fraudulent — they present as a social action ("voluntary sector") organisation, or a social enterprise, but in fact are a conventional business using this presentation for commercial gain. I say all this to emphasise how strongly I feel about this issue; please sign and share this petition.
Senior Lecturer of Adult Nursing and also the President of the Royal College of Nursing-The largest Nursing Union and Professional Body of over half a million members I am a Leadership Coach
Please sign this petition to support the much-needed changes in the Nursing Midwifery Council following the independent culture review. Tragically, 6 nurses have died in the last year while waiting on fitness to practice proceedings. Your signature can make a difference: [Link to petition](https://lnkd.in/ebcYwQqT)

Systemic factors have less relevance when sanctioning a registrant for persistent and serious dishonesty. A UK nurse failed to attempt CPR on a patient found hanging in their room from a ligature around their neck. When questioned, the nurse lied and said that they had attempted CPR. The nurse also persuaded a colleague to lie for them so as to prevent adverse consequences for the nurse. The nurse maintained the lie to several authorities for five years, even after being convicted of the criminal offence of perverting (obstructing) justice. The discipline tribunal imposed a nine-month suspension. On appeal the Court ordered revocation saying that the seriousness of this lack of candour required no less. Of interest, the Court stated that systemic factors (which are often viewed as mitigating considerations), such as a lack of staffing and the absence of a proper handover of the patient, were not relevant for gross dishonesty concerns. Have you ever experienced #discrimination from other healthcare professionals because you are JUST a midwife? Let me explain: When talking to other health professionals, such as doctors or nurses, have they ever made you feel less professional because you are only a midwife? Why am I asking you this? Last weekend I had an eye-opening discussion with some midwifery colleagues about our experiences in multidisciplinary settings - and I was shocked. Almost all of us felt that midwifery was the "black sheep" of medicine compared to the other medical professions. And I wonder WHY? Is it a problem of communication? Or could it be that other professionals have little or no idea of what we do during normal childbirth? Is it because anaesthetists, neonatal nurses, paediatricians and gynaecologists only get involved when things go wrong? While I am still sorting out my thoughts, I would like to know about your experiences. If you are a midwife: What are your experiences? How have you felt in a multidisciplinary environment? If you work in healthcare: What is your experience of midwives? How do you see us and our profession? #discriminationinhealthcare #midwives #communication #midwifeonamission

I disagree it is targeted toward NPs as it is no different for doctors who are also required to have seen the person F2F within the previous 12 months. It is in recognition that F2F is better as it allows a range of assessment modalities including seeing how the person walks in and being able to physically examine them. It also ensures F2F remains a viable option and that clinical care does not default to telehealth-only and ultimately to AI-telehealth-only. What you need is the flexibility that exists for telehealth to be accessible if anyone in the same practice has seen the person F2F (MDT care) and for the extraordinary circumstances situations
