Happy Global Meetings Industry Day! Meetings and Events matter to our communities and to our economy. I want to ask my network: What is the last meeting or event you attended that made a mark on you or changed you in some way? Tell me your stories! Here's mine: While I plan a lot of events, and each makes its own mark, one of the events I've attended that changed the way I look at things was The Virtual Event on Virtual Events (TVE) put on by Sage Hospitality in 2020. Not only was it incredibly educational on so many aspects of event planning, it was clear that the planners behind the event cared about the attendees and their experience. Their creativity in bringing together industry professionals from all facets and fostering connection between them, even though we all attended from different places around the globe, was amazing. Their commitment to fostering strong relationships and leveraging synergies between the two key business event associations highlights the critical role of co-operation in driving industry growth and resilience. This strategic partnership underscores the importance of collaboration and the shared vision of both organisations to elevate the sector’s global competitiveness and sustainability. It comes at a pivotal time for the business events industry, which has faced unprecedented challenges in recent years. PCOA President, Barry Neame, visiting New Zealand from Canberra, and BEIA Chief Executive Lisa Hopkins signed the agreement together. They were joined by BEIA Board Chair, Martin Snedden and Arna Wahl Davies, Chair of the BEIA Approved PCO group, PCOA Councillor, and New Zealand representative.
