Gender and Child Affairs in the Office of the Prime Minister is also tasked with leading the National Policy on Gender and Development which recognises youth as a special interest group and the National Child Policy. Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty require greater youth participation and leadership. Yet, it calls for something more far-reaching in the paradigm of development. In our context, young women under the age of 35 are disproportionately the victims of sexual violence.
