Looking at this machine specifically I would say the main disadvantage is the lack of guards...the operators will need to be vigilant while working next to or in this case 'on' this machine.
Safety point of view is very dangerous for operator.
Looks like all the shavings are a pain to clean off the machine. Also I see the danger to the employee doing the cleaning. Wonder if they made a power sucker like on a carwash to remove the debris. That way it would be safer and collect the metal to reuse it.
It is clear that despite being impressive due to the size of the lathe, the images show something that is disturbing, the removal of steel chips generated in the machining process, being removed by one person is absurd, and a simple action would make this automatic removal without risk to people.... it is impressive due to the size of the machine and the size of the reckless presence of a man on the lathe plate.
Das mitfahren auf einer Karusselldrehmaschine ist nicht umsonst streng verboten. Diese Maschinen machen ratz fatz Hackfleisch aus Mitarbeitern. Ich würde den Mann nach angemessener Standpauke vor versammelter Mannschaft fristlos kündigen. Sowas geht garnicht!
Sorry but this would not be allowed in the Uk..it breaks every H/S law in the uk..I no sometimes we dread H/S however that looks so dangerous on every level.
