"But always at the end of the day, we always had to put what's best for kids. And I think based upon how you lead, people will always give you grace. If you lead with a collaborative spirit and lead with knowing that you care about them." We had an amazing session with Dr. Josha Talison on More Than a Test last week! Dr. Talison shared his inspiring journey from teacher to superintendent, driven by his unwavering faith and commitment to serving his community. Despite facing the challenges of limited resources in a high-poverty district, he’s managed to uplift his students through creative solutions and a relentless focus on social and emotional support. His leadership style is all about earning respect, building confidence, and valuing teachers. Managing Director - Gladwell Academy | Transforming Organizations with Strategic Talent Management & Leadership Development | Podcast Host - Career Shifts 🎙
Congruence I first encountered the term "congruence" back in school. In mathematics, it describes two figures or shapes that are identical in size and shape. In number theory, it refers to numbers that yield the same remainder when divided by a specific number. My personal journey with the concept of congruence began in 2018, during a transformative 5-day workshop on Neuro-Linguistic Programming led by Mohammed Rafi (Magical Rafi). It was here that I re-encountered this term, sparking a deeper exploration of its implications. Congruence in leadership is more than just a math term. It means a leader's thoughts, beliefs, values, and actions are all in sync. It's when what a leader thinks, feels, says, and does all match up. This creates genuine leadership and builds trust and integrity. In recent years, many organizations have faced challenges, particularly in leadership congruence. Why is this crucial? Imagine this: You're on a plane that's speeding down the runway, ready to take off. Suddenly, the pilot changes their mind and stops. The stress and uncertainty would be overwhelming for everyone on board. Normally, when pilots are on the runway, they have a clear plan, a definite go or no-go decision, and full confidence in their abilities. They make sure everything is in sync for a smooth takeoff. This happens seamlessly millions of times every day around the world. Similarly, congruence is vital in leadership. Leaders who exhibit congruence inspire trust and respect. Their actions align with their words and values, creating a cohesive and motivating environment. What are your thoughts on the importance of congruence in leadership? If you found this insightful, I would love to hear your thoughts or experiences on the importance of congruence in leadership. I am in agreement with Tomas Chamarro-Premuzic regarding the issues with the idealised leadership style that is often still desired today (I wrote a thesis to that effect 20 years ago!) This blog highlights why we need to question our thoughts on what makes a great leader and consider the capabilities they really need to succeed. https://lnkd.in/gdEh58JZ #emotionalintelligence #leadership #neuralnetworksconcepts

Visionary leader | Driving change-makers to achieve sustainable transformation through strategic insight
Challenging our own perspectives is often the hardest, yet most crucial, step toward effective leadership. Neuroscience teaches us that our brains are wired to favor familiar patterns, leading us to unconsciously seek out confirmatory information. This cognitive bias, known as 'confirmation bias,' can create echo chambers that stifle innovation. So, how can we step outside our comfort zones and invite diverse ideas into our thinking? In my own journey, I’ve learned that real progress comes from embracing those uncomfortable conversations that challenge our assumptions. I make it a point to regularly engage with people who see the world differently than I do. It's not always easy, but it’s always enlightening. ✨ What do you do to ensure you're not just hearing but really listening to different perspectives in your leadership journey? How have those insights shaped your path? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Connect with my AI clone and explore an interactive experience that challenges conventional thinking: https://lnkd.in/ep2rS4ZU #Innovation #GrowthMindset #DiversityInLeadership

If you can, take the time to understand your team members on a deeper and more personal level. Start by discovering more about their passions/ areas of interest. The clue lies in the sparkles in their eyes when they talk about certain things. I mean - who doesn't? 🤩 As a leader, one of your tasks is to create a center 'stage' for team members to shine and excel. For example, someone on your team might be passionate about Generative AI, a subject that likely resonates with many others. ➡️ Consider inviting them to host a lunch and learn session where they can present their learnings and best practices to a wider group; so that more can benefit from these unique insights; ➡️ Encourage them to pen down their thoughts via LinkedIn posts, industry articles and/or student magazines etc.; so that they too can become a thought leader of their own niches... 💡 More empowering, less overshadowing. #leadership #empowerment
