Not an AI expert, just an Educator using AI to create positive impact. SUNGURA. creates a space for collaboratiive activities to assist nonprofit organizations leverage the power of AI to support their mission.
Curious 🤔if there are any #AI workshops at #istelive that address the need for #AI #literacy to prepare students for this? Being able to make images, write haikus and make slide decks is cool but #students need real 🌎skills to navigate what is coming. #ISTELive24 #futureofeducation #ISTE2024 #ISTE

Passion for #AIinEducation; harness #AI to transform structured curriculum into engaging lessons; foster critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and curiosity. “Be curious, not judgmental.”~Ted Lasso
🏡 Don’t judge the house; I have a toddler 🤪 Ever wondered how to deal with students using #AI to complete their work? Here are some synthesized ideas from Leon Furze’s AI Assessment Scale that can help you find your comfort level in using AI for assignments. First, let’s shift our focus: What is the purpose of your assignment or assessment? - Assessing writing skills?…Ensure your students write themselves, not AI. - Assessing analysis or other skills?…AI can be a useful tool here. It doesn’t have to be an “all or nothing” approach with AI. Reframe the conversation:It’s not about “catching students cheating.” Students will use these tools whether we teach them or not. Ideally, we should teach #AILiteracy alongside #ReadingLiteracy, helping students grow both skills simultaneously. Even if we can’t fully teach AI literacy, teachers need a basic understanding of AI to guide our students better. “Learn to complement AI, not compete with it.”(This was a great quote that I like from my blog article for the Human Intelligence Movement.) Use conversations and mini-conferences to guide students through the writing process. If you’re short on time, AI can help you provide feedback. There are countless ways to enhance our pedagogy to better serve our students. I’ll be sharing more ideas soon! Let’s use our #HumanIntelligence and #ArtificialIntelligence together to create a brighter future for our students. #HI4AI #AIInEducation #Education #Pedagogy #Literacy #Writing #TeachingStrategies #Teaching

Can Chatgpt give feedback to students on their writing? See this new article Patti Taylor and I wrote exploring the possibility and limits of using LLMs like ChatGPT for essay feedback. Check it out in the Journal of Applied Learning and Teaching. It's open access! #artificialintelligence #teachingwriting #chatgpt
We continue to publish articles for the December issue (vol. 7, issue 2) of the Journal of Applied Learning & Teaching. JALT is a Scopus-indexed (Q1 in Scopus), open-access academic journal that neither charges its readers nor its authors. We are pleased to present a research article by Prof Patricia Taylor and Prof Mark Marino: On feedback from bots: Intelligence tests and teaching writing "One of the much-debated uses for AI, especially among writing instructors, is the potential for AI to take over the commenting and grading functions of teaching. In this paper, we describe the creation and use of AI for writing feedback in two separate but interconnected approaches: the use of the “Perfect Tutor” exercise in the classroom to teach students to conceptualize the components and priorities we bring to the writing process, and how students might struggle to make use of the same AI for feedback in a less actively guided context, or when the emphasis is not on the metacognition surrounding writing. During our examination of making bots and evaluating their feedback, we explore the limits of current AI. While emphasizing the importance of understanding the limitations, we also identify productive uses of these AI feedback bots in the college writing classroom to develop student critical thinking and writing." This is an excellent way to assess the level of Generative AI involvement in assignment creation, in writing courses and other courses! #genai #aiineducation #chatgpt #education #idt #instructionaldesign
Inspired by Dr Mike Perkins' recent post on the AI Assessment Scale that was built on work by Leon Furze, I created a scale for academic writing tasks that align with Bloom's Taxonomy and added a level of "advanced AI integration." I'm working on this for a manuscript I'm currently writing on the integration of gen AI into an academic writing course I heavily modified this fall. A little context, my study investigates the impact of these GAI tools in the context of a doctoral writing class, emphasizing the ability of such tools to augment a creative approach that contributes to interdisciplinarity and employability. If you're able and willing, I'd love some feedback on this table. 🔗 Link to AI Assessment Scale paper: https://lnkd.in/gCqyZy8S #genai #artificial #aiforeducation #chatgpt #academicwriting #academicchatter #doctoralstudies
