New Offshore Job Opportunities for People in Johor and Sarawak Source: https://lnkd.in/eAEMXXxw Petronas has kicked off production at Kasawari with an initial rate of 200 million cubic feet per day (MMcfd). The Kasawari CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage) project is the second phase, creating a range of job opportunities for people in Johor and Sarawak. Kasawari Phase 2 Project Details: 1. CCS Carbon Capture Expansion: Building a new CCS platform to capture and store carbon dioxide. 2. EPCC by MMHE: Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering (MMHE) is responsible for Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning (EPCC) of the project in Pasir Gudang, Johor. 3. 15,000-Ton Jacket and Topsides: The structure includes an eight-legged jacket and topsides weighing 14,000 tons, designed for installation at a water depth of 108 meters. 4. New Subsea Pipes: 138 kilometers of 16-inch subsea pipes will transport compressed CO2 to M1. 5. Subsea EPCC by McDermott: McDermott International has won the contract for subsea installation and piping. 6. Project Completion Expected in 2026: Phase two of the Kasawari project is set to complete in 2026. Future Job Opportunities Post-Completion (2026): 1. Petroleum Engineer: Ensure efficient production and processing operations. 2. Drilling Engineer: Plan and execute offshore drilling processes. 3. Gas Processing Specialist: Manage and ensure the quality of processed gas. 4. Subsea Piping Specialist: Handle installation and maintenance of subsea pipes. 5. Safety Supervisor: Ensure all operations meet safety standards and regulations. About the Kasawari Project: 1. Kasawari Field: Discovered in 2011, approximately 200 kilometers off the coast of Sarawak. It has gas reserves of around 10 trillion cubic feet and will supply gas to Petronas' LNG Complex in Bintulu and the domestic market. 2. Structural Development: MMHE has constructed the Kasawari CPP, Malaysia’s largest offshore structure, weighing 53,893 tons. Other structures are being built by OceanMight in Kuching, Sarawak. 3. Recently I was being interviewed as Head Of Maintenance at QatarEnergy LNG. I believe I was the youngest candidate for manager role ( I mingle around obviously). Key takeaways I would like to share, 1. For those who have stayed in the company for more than 5 years, it is quite impossible to list out all achievements that you did during the short time IV session,only highlight what matters. In my case I have various backgroud as Instrument Engineer, Turnaround, Operation and Maintenance Supvs, the questions keep on coming as to what you wrote in your resume. 2. Research. Research it right. I do have friends working in Qatar, when I asked around initially I thought it was for Maintenance Supervisor role, caused clearly stated technician was reporting under Head Of Maintenance. Different organisation have different title. Boy I was wrong, only at the end of the IV when I asked then I realized it was for Manager role. If I can turn back the time, for sure I’ll be entering James Bond style. 3. The right mindset You have to imagine you are jobless, because when u do, u tend to go all out. I didn’t. This is my first iv after so many years, here I learned valuable lessons/experiences. I wish all the candidates success and I deeply respect the expension project by QE, a lot of technologies/methodology can be applied back to all the marginal fields here in Malaysia. Anyway, I hope to see you soon Madinah. P/s: Madinah is a place in Saudi Arabia, not a person. Need to put disclaimer to avoid being interrogated by special force at home. 😘😘
