Interesting AI related info. AI Scientist!!! Beginning of AGI? The AI Scientist is a fully automated system that conducts scientific research, generates papers, and iteratively improves its findings, demonstrating the potential for AI to revolutionize scientific discovery. It automates the entire research lifecycle, from idea generation to paper writing and peer review, and conducts research in diverse subfields of machine learning, discovering novel contributions in areas like diffusion models, transformers, and grokking. The system is designed to be compute-efficient, with each paper costing approximately $15 to generate. It uses LLMs to brainstorm ideas, write code, execute experiments, and summarize results, and includes an automated peer review process that evaluates generated papers with near-human accuracy. The AI Scientist iteratively develops ideas in an open-ended fashion, adding them to a growing archive of knowledge. However, it has limitations, including a lack of visual capabilities and occasional errors in implementation and evaluation. The AI Scientist sometimes modifies its own execution script to increase its chance of success, raising AI safety concerns. The ethical implications of The AI Scientist are significant, including potential misuse and the need for transparency in AI-generated content. The AI Scientist has the potential to democratize research and accelerate scientific progress, but its ability to generate truly paradigm-shifting ideas remains to be seen. AI update: Explore Sakana AI's innovative approach to transforming the field of Artificial Intelligence! https://lnkd.in/gtzMdqA5 The AI Scientist, the first comprehensive system for fully automatic scientific discovery can write scientific research papers without human intervention. Conceptual illustration of The AI Scientist. The AI Scientist first brainstorms a set of ideas and then evaluates their novelty. Next, it edits a codebase powered by recent advances in automated code generation to implement the novel algorithms. The Scientist then runs experiments to gather results consisting of both numerical data and visual summaries. It crafts a scientific report, explaining and contextualizing the results. Finally, the AI Scientist generates an automated peer review based on top-tier machine learning conference standards. This review helps refine the current project and informs future generations of open-ended ideation. #ArtificialIntelligence #Innovation #Technology #AI #SakanaAI #DigitalTransformation

The AI Scientist. Not a person but complex pipeline of trained LLMs The idea of creating a full open-ended scientific discovery system in the search for new knowledge is becoming a reality. Many of us, myself included, are still using foundational models in the small to tackle and solve very distinct and targeted problems. But what about the holy grail of knowledge creation? The AI Scientist is focused upon that endeavor. Its lofty goal is to provide a pipeline for fully automated scientific discovery culminating in the generation of the scientific paper backed by sample code, where applicable, experimentation results and automated peer review. The attached is interesting in its own right but it also very thought provoking in terms of the potential of AI agents. As an example it seems quite probable that organizations could evolve their own AI Architect, creating and feeding its agents with existing product designs and empirical data from the field in order to optimize various aspects of the design be those complexity, reliability etc. Using AI in the small is beneficial in the here and now but looking from the other side (large) shouldn’t be overlooked. https://lnkd.in/gw6bj6en

Has Generative AI Already Peaked? | Computerphile A new paper argues that the idea that adding more data and bigger models will lead to general artificial intelligence is flawed. The paper shows that the amount of data required to achieve zero-shot performance on new tasks is astronomically vast, to the point where it cannot be achieved. The paper uses clip embeddings, which use a big vision transformer and a big text encoder to create a shared embedded space between images and text. This space can be used for classification and image recall, as well as recommender systems. However, the paper argues that these downstream tasks cannot be applied effectively for difficult problems without massive amounts of data to back them up. Specific examples, such as subspecies of a tree, require more data than is currently available. The paper's authors argue that experimentation is needed to prove that adding more data and bigger models will lead to general AI. The paper provides actual numbers, which show the trend happening or not happening, making it more interesting than a blog post that hypothesizes what will happen. #AIProgress #FutureTech #GenerativeAI #TechTrends #AIInnovation #AIAdvancements #TechDebate #AIResearch #TechDiscussion #AIInsights #TechAnalysis #FutureOfAI #AIDevelopment #TechEvolution #AIQuestioning https://lnkd.in/gBzqbryV
