Dreamers! 🌟 **Turning Dreams into Dance: My Choreography Journey with the Song "Dreamer"** 🌟 I recently had the pleasure of choreographing a performance to the inspiring song "Dreamer." This piece isn't just about dance—it's about embodying the spirit of those who dare to dream, those who strive against the odds, and those who believe in a brighter tomorrow. The choreography was designed to reflect the journey of a dreamer: starting with the initial spark of a vision, through the struggles and setbacks, and finally culminating in the triumph of achieving what once seemed impossible. Each movement was crafted to evoke the emotions of hope, resilience, and unwavering determination. Working on this project was not just an artistic endeavor; it was a reminder of the power of dreams and the importance of nurturing them. The energy and passion brought by the dancers truly brought the vision to life, creating a performance that resonated deeply with everyone who watched. As a choreographer, my goal has always been to tell stories through movement, and "Dreamer" allowed me to explore the limitless possibilities of what can be achieved when we believe in ourselves. To all the dreamers out there—keep dancing, keep dreaming, and never stop believing in the magic that you can create. #Choreography #Dreamer #DanceInspiration #CreativityInMotion #StorytellingThroughDance #NeverStopDreaming

🌟 **Unlocking the Art of Choreography** 🌟 Being a good choreographer isn't just about creating beautiful dance moves; it's about storytelling, collaboration, and continuous growth. Here are a few key principles I live by: ✨ **Embrace Creativity**: Always seek to innovate while respecting the foundations of dance. Your unique voice is what sets you apart! 🤝 **Listen and Collaborate**: Great choreography often emerges from collaboration. Encourage your dancers to share their ideas and perspectives. 📖 **Tell a Story**: Every piece should convey a narrative or emotion. Engaging your audience on a deeper level makes your choreography memorable. 💪 **Stay Adaptable**: Be open to change—sometimes the best ideas come from the strengths and insights of your dancers. 💡 **Keep Learning**: Stay inspired by exploring other art forms and nurturing your creativity. Growth is a lifelong journey! Let’s keep pushing boundaries and inspiring each other in the world of dance! 💃✨ #Choreography #Dance #Creativity #Collaboration #Storytelling #ContinuousLearning

The Art of Choreography: More Than Just Dance Steps Choreography is so much more than arranging a series of dance steps. While those moves form the foundation, the true magic lies in how we use those steps to tell a story, evoke a feeling, or create a powerful moment. Choreography is about crafting a journey, using space, dynamics, and transitions to breathe life into the music. Every step, turn, and gesture is intentional—woven into the fabric of a performance to communicate mood, character, or narrative. It’s the interplay between dancers, music, and the audience that truly captivates and inspires. Whether it’s high-energy, elegant, or deeply emotional, choreography is the language we use to transport the audience/ viewers to another world. When done right, the goal is to leave a lasting impact long after the curtain falls!

Choreography is about more than just moves on stage. Rick Tjia dives into the hidden battle between physical skill and creative structure in dance. He reminds us that it's okay if we don't 'get' something right away—authenticity beats forced understanding every time. Familiarity isn’t always quality, and sometimes, we need to trust our instincts rather than follow trends. Someone asked me what type of choreographer I am and what style of dance I choreograph? Honestly, I couldn’t give them a straight answer—I don’t see myself as limited to any one style. To me, choreography is about discovering the narrative, feeling, or journey that lies at the heart of a piece. Once you uncover that, it’s about figuring out the movement language to bring it to life. That language could be anything— ballroom, ballet, musical theatre, or hip hop —depending on the story, music, and purpose. The process is the same: building sequences, shaping dynamics, playing with textures, and using choreographic devices to craft something meaningful and interesting. Being a choreographer, to me, is about versatility. The ability to turn your hand to any style or adapt to any request is essential in this industry. The more versatile you are, the more you can collaborate across genres, innovate, and stay relevant. True artistry lies in breaking boundaries and embracing the limitless possibilities of movement. #Choreographer #london #dance #Creative

Choreography and dance video concept work in progress 👇🏻 It’s the reaction of the choreo starting to settle into the music and the music starting to settle with the choreo for me 😂 Not to mention dancing barefoot in the sunshine ☀️ Here’s the thing… As creatives and humans that create, We need time, space, and inspiration, to actually do the thing we love to do… aka CREATE 💥 As I watch this video over and over, I can see the process unfolding… I notice the nuances that you might not, like not fully hitting the timing I want for this part of the choreo yet. I see the dynamic between the soft and sharp (resistance and flow) that I want, yet it’s not obvious enough yet and still needs work. I can feel that it’s right there, all the pieces are trying to come together, yet they need more exploration and time. I notice how nervous I look (and feel) stepping back into a space of choreographing and creating, after being away from it for a year and recovering from an ankle sprain for 6 months — it’s a whole different level of trust in my body. And I realise how different the movement feels in my body, after so much personal growth within my dance journey. This is all part of the process… a process I never used to take the time to fully explore and enjoy! I danced for a long ass time without truly FEELING the movement. SURE — I was busting it out and nailing the choreography, but the embodiment wasn’t there. I see this happen in the dance industry a LOT! This part of my dance journey is about that next level embodiment with my movement and the way I teach. I’m learning to lean into enjoying the process a shit ton more, and I think my embodiment, will come from that 💥 I’m excited to see where this leads me. If you take anything away from my share, I hope it’s the reminder that there’s so much goodness in the process. I hope you don’t skip over it like I have. And I hope that whatever you’re working towards, the process becomes a part of the embodiment. Because without both of those things, the final product, that everyone puts so much emphasis or pressure on, isn’t real. It gives ‘fake it till you make it’ vibes! 💜💜💜

I had an epiphany last week regarding the love of my life. Dance. Naturally, I turned that epiphany into a video, laying out a game plan any choreographer could adopt right now. Here’s the cheat sheet: → A fresh approach to selling your choreography → A smarter strategy to keep students coming back → The ultimate tool to streamline your workflow (hint: Stan. Just use Stan Store 😅) The full video breakdown? Linked in the comments ⬇️ Know a choreographer or dance studio that could benefit from this? Do them a solid and pass it along. #LinkedInAfterHours

Ever wonder how dance can unlock a model's potential? This might just change how you see both. Ballet was one of the most transformative experiences. More than steps or technique, it’s about discipline and precision. It teaches you to pay attention to every part of your body, understand rhythm, and respect whoever is leading. Ballet is teamwork: Moving in sync, creating harmony. Dance shaped the way I see the world 20 years. That stayed with me long after I left the stage: Helping me approach new challenges and jobs with a unique perspective. When I became a photographer, I noticed something fascinating—my dance background naturally flowed into how I guided models. Through my understanding of body language, I saw their potential and helped them to unfold it. I vividly remember a shoot for a modeling agency in 2017. A new model stepped in: Mid-twenties, unsure of himself. I instinctively began guiding his movements, translating it into poses like choreography. The result: Happy client, confident model, and striking images. That’s when it hit me—it is all about “fusion”. As a dancer I have something extra to offer: Connecting models with their bodies in a way most photographers can´t. Me as a photographer, I work with perspectives and levels, balance and energy, expressions and emotions, which comes directly from my dance career. What´s different? Now I design the choreography for fashion clients and brands, but it is still all about telling a story to an audience. Whether on stage, in front of the camera, or walking down a runway, the way you carry yourself matters. That’s why models benefit from dance— it’s a foundation. So I have founded the model agency “True Faces”: In our coaching program, I empower models to explore their bodies, wake up all their possibilities within themselves and step ahead in the fashion industry. #TrueFaces #TrueBody #TruePerspective #TruePersonality

THE RED FISH 🐠 🐟 VERY SMART 😍 I was actually generating a creative underwater dance party scene, not specifically referencing "The Red Fish." If you'd like, I can: 1. Create another underwater dance scene 2. Help with fish-themed dance moves or choreography 3. Provide information on aquatic-inspired performances or dances Please provide more context or clarify what "The Red Fish" refers to, and I'll do my best to assist! Fish don't actually create dance moves like humans do, but they do have fascinating natural movements that can inspire dance choreography! In the underwater world, fish communicate and express themselves through: 1. Flicks: Quick tail movements 2. Darts: Rapid changes in direction 3. Undulations: Wavelike body movements 4. Vibrations: Fast tremors 5. Postures: Specific body positions These movements can inspire dance moves, such as: 1. The "Fish Tail Flick" 2. The "Schooling Sway" 3. The "Jellyfish Jiggle" 4. The "Shimmering Shimmy" Choreographers and dancers often draw inspiration from nature, incorporating fish-like movements into aquatic-themed performances! Would you like to: 1. Explore fish-inspired dance styles? 2. Learn about aquatic-themed performances? 3. Create a fish-inspired dance routine?

When creating competition routines, the health and safety of young dancers should be a top priority. Definitions of “age-appropriate” choreography vary widely across the competitive-dance scene. It takes a concerted effort to shape pieces that push young dancers artistically and technically while avoiding steps or thematic elements that are too sensual or adult. How have you approached this issue in your own choreography? Share your experiences in the comments. Here, learn 3 keys to creating age-appropriate competition routines, as well as some tips for judges: https://lnkd.in/enjmywWj 📸 : Woodbury Dance Center Inc students in a piece choreographed by Jessie James, Katia Bode, and Faith Wlaschin.
