Putting yourself in one’s shoes is a good start, but it’s more powerful if you combine humanness (showing empathy) with courage (daring to feedback and challenge self-limiting thoughts).
Sharing an interesting matrix developed by Shadé Zahrai that is like a alchemy in field of leadership and on a personal ground my position is in the ideal mix.
🙇 High Humanness & Low Courage: Where we have teams or people who are really high on humanness and low in courage, we get people pleasing leaders who show empathy but avoid challenging limiting thoughts to avoid conflict.
👉 High Courage & Low Humanness: Where we have this mix of high courage and low humanness, we often end up with Agitators. They are very confident, very competent albeit lack emotional connection.
☠️ Low Courage & Low Humanness: When we find sadly this mix in a leader, apathy and toxicity are omnipresent in the team. Lack of compassion, passive aggression, gossips slowly devour such system.
🙌 High Courage & High Humanness: This is the ideal mix which eventually draws the fine line between a true leader with rests. We feel like people are our partners. Giving feedbacks for growth which can be courageous but filled with compassion and balanced with warmth.
I am sure many of you can relate with above matrix. Thanks & kudos to those who are constantly displaying the desired mix of High Courage & High Humanness around your circle. It made a difference.
