Thrilled to unveil Amkan Ventures, the first solo female-led GP fund of funds! Our goal is to bridge the gap between GCC-based LPs and the next generations of top decile venture managers out of our first $10M fund of funds. I have been working tirelessly since last year to bring this thesis to life and have been joined by Denise Attoue as Analyst. Couldn’t be more excited to share what we’ve been up to! ⚡️Our investment focus: 💡Small fund sizes: We believe in the power of aligned incentives. Investing in smaller fund sizes allows us to closely align our interests with those of the managers. This alignment fosters a shared commitment to success. Additionally, smaller fund sizes offer the advantage of potentially achieving higher multiples of return, making them more conducive to generating favorable outcomes. 💡Concentrated portfolios: We favor concentrated portfolios that allow for deep engagement with each investment. By maintaining a select number of investments, GPs can devote ample resources and attention to nurturing the growth of each portfolio company. This hands-on approach enables them to add tangible value at every stage of the investment lifecycle. 💡Solo GPs: We have a keen eye for solo general partners who possess a "chip on their shoulder" mentality. These GPs are driven by an unwavering determination to succeed and are willing to overcome any obstacle in their path. They embody the entrepreneurial spirit, willing to run through walls to make their visions a reality. 📍 Our managers: Today, as new managers set out on their journey, they navigate through a challenging downturn, facing rejections and liquidity issues from LPs. Despite the daunting road ahead, they dive headfirst into the endeavor. We want to back these managers, driven by their unwavering hunger and determination, as they strive to overcome obstacles and chart a course towards establishing their firms as models of excellence. As our inaugural investment, we’re proud to be backing Finn Murphy’s first fund, Nebular, which exemplifies our core values and investment philosophy.
