Recently, I came across this innovative Project called , "The Project Mariana " , which focused on testing the cross border - Trading and settlement of wholesale central bank digital currencies ( WCBDC) among financial institutions, utilizing decentralized finance (DeFi) technology concepts on a public blockchain. Project Mariana was jointly developed by three BIS including Swiss ,Singapore and Eurosystem Hub centers with the partnership with the Bank of France, Monetary Authority of Singapore, and Swiss National Bank . This has demostrated the potential of open and interoperable networks and collaborative effort involving the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) and the central banks of France, Singapore, and Switzerland, has successfully completed its mission. The project relied on several key elements, including a common technical token standard provided by a public blockchain, bridges for seamless WCBDC transfers between different networks, and an Automated Market Maker (AMM) to facilitate automated spot Foreign exchange transactions and settlements. The AMM’s innovative algorithms pooled liquidity from various WCBDCs, enabling automatic pricing and spoting Foreign exchange transactions suggesting potential applications for the next generation of financial market infrastructures supporting cross-border trading and settlement. #projectsaboutcrossborderfinacing #insightsaboutprojectmariana #economy #legalresearch .

Project mBridge has reached the minimum viable product (MVP) stage, a significant milestone for digital currencies and cross-border transactions. mBridge is a global collaboration involving central and commercial banks with the goal of creating a multi-central bank digital currency (CBDC) platform using distributed ledger technology (DLT), enabling instant cross-border payments and settlements. Here's why mBridge is important: - Cost Efficiency: Cutting significant costs in traditional cross-border payments. - Speed: Near-instant transactions, eliminating long waiting times. - Financial Inclusion: Ensuring universal payment access in areas with limited correspondent banking. - Blockchain Innovation: The mBridge Ledger facilitates real-time, peer-to-peer transactions on a new blockchain. Its primary objective is to delve deeper into exploring and experimenting with tokenisation applications, encompassing various use cases such as facilitating the settlement of tokenised tangible assets (like green bonds, carbon credits, aircraft, electric vehicle charging stations, electronic bills of lading, and treasury management). This initiative holds the potential to establish a novel Financial Market Infrastructure (FMI) that connects tokenised real-world assets with monetary transactions, thus bridging the current disparity.
