Here's the AACN response to the recent Bloomberg reporting about the quality of NP education. I agree with a lot of their points, but do think the #CCNE should make one simple change and require schools to place NPs in clinical practicums. It should be done more like the medical model, where you know the type of experience that students are getting. It sounds like some of them are pretty shoddy, and that’s the biggest risk to quality – the actual clinical experience. I don’t care where they sit to read a text book or watch a lecture – home computer or the classroom, but the quality of your clinical experience? That’s make it or break it.
