Join the New England Literacy Resource Center on May 8 at 1 PM ET to participate in a VERA Voting Ambassadors workshop. Participants will use contextualized content and materials to guide and empower students. Students will develop leadership skills and strengthen civics knowledge, and learn more about Voter Education, Registration, and Action. Learn more about the VERA campaign at nelrc.org/vera and register for the webinar at bit.ly/NELRC-5-8-24 I had the opportunity of participating in an NELRC workshop at COABE last month. The experience was impactful. Not only was I given an opportunity to experience what an adult learner experience may experience the learning environment, but I also experienced what it may have been like to live in a period of time when "fighting for the right to vote" was the top priority. NELRC knows how to provide contextualized, experiential learning opportunities to the classroom. Consider joining NELRC on May 8th at 1 PM ET to learn how creating a team of Voting Ambassadors can empower students.

To achieve true integration, we need to rethink district lines. But we can't stop there. We also need active policies promoting equity within school districts. States have a responsibility to adopt policies that require, incentivize, and support school leaders in adopting policies that advance integration and resource equity between schools and within them. We are pushing for state policies that foster integration at every level, ensuring that diversity and resource allocation are balanced across all schools.
