I am delighted to share that I recently attended an insightful webinar on "Combating Global Antibiotic resistance", organized by MedAll , and received a certificate of participation. I wanted to highlight a few key takeaways: • Identification of clinical signs of infections caused by MBL-producing bacteria to improve early detection rates • Knowledge of emperical and targeted antimicrobial therapy in an era of metallo-beta-lactamase • Considerations for control of carbapenemase producing organisms Thank you to the organizers and speakers for such a valuable experience. Looking forward to applying these learnings and continuing to grow! #AMR #Webinar #Medall

Every year, millions of lives are at risk due to antimicrobial resistance (AMR), which makes infections harder, or even impossible, to treat. At Microbio, we’re tackling this challenge head-on by developing innovative diagnostic tools like InfectID™-BSI, which help clinicians: ✔️ Identify pathogens quickly ✔️ Enable targeted treatments ✔️ Reduce unnecessary antibiotic use Learn more about our mission: https://hubs.li/Q033Pw_q0 #AMR #AntimicrobialResistance #Microbio #HealthcareInnovation

☞ #Synergy Test Interpretation:- Life saving! A Synergy test is a laboratory method used to evaluate whether two or more antimicrobial agents (antibiotics, antifungals etc) work better together against microorganisms than when used individually. Here, 1st Tube =Growth control (GC)-growth of organisms provided. 2nd Tube =Ceftazidime Avibactam(CZA) antibiotic disc is present but has failed to kill organisms (turbid tube). 3rd Tube = Aztreonam (ATM) antibiotic present but has failed to kill organisms (turbid tube). 4th Tube = Both CZA and ATM are present and yes they have killed organisms for why the liquid broth into the tube has become clear. This is proved that combined therapy is the key solution of MDR infections and it’s a life saving method. #AMR, #MDR, #XDR, #TDR 🙏 Share it to your friends and colleagues.

Can you treat a UTI if the organisms are antibiotic resistant? In part two of our interview with Nicholas Sanford, PhD, BCMAS from MicroGenDX, we answer the following questions: ● What is the difference between detecting antibiotic resistance genes and conducting antibiotic susceptibility testing? ● Do MicroGenDX test results indicate which organisms are considered to be pathogens vs. those that are considered beneficial? ● How is low/medium/high bacterial load determined for UTI test results and what does it mean? ● Is it normal for bladder organisms to change over time, and for test results to also therefore be different each time? ● Why do beneficial organisms rarely show up in MicroGenDX tests? Are they deliberately omitted from the results, or are they not detected in the first place? ● If multiple organisms are listed in UTI test results, is there any indication of which may be causing the symptoms? ● Do MicroGenDX test results provide antibiotic recommendations? ● Why is it often necessary for someone to test, treat, then retest and possibly treat again? Watch the interview over on our YouTube channel ➡ https://lnkd.in/diq9M8gm If you're an expert who would like to share insights with our community, we'd love to hear from you. #utitesting #antibioticresistance #recurrentuti #chronicuti #womenshealth #bladdersmatter

More on the negative impact of antibiotics on the micro biome and metabolome. We should really reserve antibiotics for very specific indictations of known infectious causes. BUT as I previously highlighted - we can document infectious agents, but don’t always think they are the cause of clinical signs. So… careful consideration needed! #Eurogut2024 #ESCG #AntibioticStewardship
