Mexico is one of the countries with the most #AI users in the world! But also… look at an important #gender AI gap. Only 30.5% of users are #women. Every technological innovation in the #digital space has come with a gender divide, because many applications, content, services or devices are not inclusive by design. They do not respond to women needs, preferences and circumstances. Some of them even discriminate or allow gendered violence. AI can help to bridge divides, but we need to be deliberate in building ethical, inclusive, responsible artificial intelligence. #ethicalAI

AI: Artificial Intelligence or Amplified Ignorance? With #internationalwomensday celebrating the achievements of women from all around the world and drawing attention to continued gender equality challenges, the issue of gender bias in Artificial Intelligence has emerged as the modern-day battle around gender stereotypes. When prompted to depict "engineers," "scientists," or "a wealthy person in India," the images generated by #AI default to outdated stereotypes - reinforcing misconceptions around gender, race, religion and more. Under the hood, these biases get baked in from the internet data used to train the AI, which is often riddled with toxic stereotyping. We envision AI as a great equalizer to #InspireInclusion and expand human potential for all but that vision is jeopardized if this transformative technology ends up proliferating ignorance and division. As #GenerativeAI capabilities surge, we must take a stand: • Prioritizing diverse, inclusive data for AI training • Rigorously auditing algorithms for encoded biases • Advocating for transparency around AI models • Putting ethical AI principles into practice We must be proactive in shaping AI to be a force for good that uplifts all of humanity, not an amplifier of ignorance. #InspireTechForGood #WeAreAXA #KnowYouCan

We are delighted to be able to welcome Professor Judy Wajcman to St Hugh's on Tuesday 15 October 2024 when she will deliver the annual lecture on AI entitled: "Feminism Confronts AI: The Gender Relations of Digitalisation". Judy is the Anthony Giddens Professor of Sociology at the London School of Economics and Political Science, Principal Investigator of the Women in Data Science and AI project at The Alan Turing Institute, and visiting professor at the Oxford Internet Institute. This talk will examine the gender relations of digitalisation, with a particular focus on AI as the most contemporary expression of this. While there is increasing recognition that technologies are both a reflection and crystallisation of society, Judy will argue that there is still insufficient focus on the ways in which gendered power relations are embedded in technoscience. This is as much the case with AI as it was with previous waves of technological change. The systemic under-representation of women in the AI ecosystem poses the risk of encoding and amplifying existing patterns of gender inequities. So gender equality in the leadership of AI is not only an equal opportunity issue, but also a matter of how the world we live in is designed and for whom. AI is only as equal, ethical, and strong as the data that it learns from. AI could be a force for good against gender inequality, but it could just as easily be used to exacerbate it. #AI #ML #futurism #IntelligenceFactory #digitaltransformation #DX https://lnkd.in/gPhuRnT7

#UNESCO study shows regressive gender stereotypes; Generative AI impact. #GenderBias 🤝 Follow us on Discord 🔜: https://lnkd.in/gt823Zd3 🤝 Follow us on Whatsapp 🔜 https://wapia.in/wabeta _ ❇️ Summary: Open source LLMs like Llama 2 and GPT-2 show significant gender bias, with men being assigned high-status jobs and women being relegated to traditionally undervalued roles. These LLMs also exhibit homophobic and racial biases in their generated content. UNESCO has recommended actions to ensure gender equality in AI design, including diversifying recruitment in tech companies. Only 20% of technical roles in machine learning companies are held by women. The fight against stereotypes and biases in AI is crucial for protecting human rights and promoting diversity.
