In this episode, I tell about my friend, Michael Thurman, and his gift of teaching his ballplayers more than pitching and hitting. If more coaches would do what Michael does, baseball would be understood in a more pleasant way. Learning from an early age helps to set a foundation that can set up a long season of memories. February is Black History Month, and what better time to teach Negro Leagues baseball history. No baseball player, young or old, can truly understand what that foundation truly is. In this episode, I ask all coaches to tell about baseball history, and be sure to include the history of the Negro Leagues! #negroleagues #baseball #blackhistorymonth

🚀 Exciting Day 1 Progress Update: Starting a New Baseball Project! ⚾️ Today marks the beginning of an exciting journey as I dive into a new project focused on creating a baseball game. 🎮 Here's a quick overview of what I accomplished on day 1: 🔹 Added a Pitcher and Catcher: Lay the foundation for the game by introducing key players onto the field. Excited to see them come to life! 🔹 Implemented 3 Different Throws: Slow Throw: Perfecting the art of the changeup to keep batters guessing. Fast Throw: Bringing the heat with blazing fastballs to keep the competition on their toes. Curve Throw: Adding some spin and curve to the mix, aiming to baffle batters with every pitch. It's just the beginning, but I'm thrilled with the progress made so far. Stay tuned for more updates as this project unfolds! 🌟 #GameDevelopment #BaseballGame #IndieDev #Day1Progress #ExcitingJourney

What do we know about hand-eye coordination of baseball players when they catch a ball coming at them? Are position players better at catching it than pitchers? Are baseball players better than non-athlete controls? We know absolutely nothing so far, though we can always speculate. I created a ball catching task using a virtual reality system to better understand hand-eye coordination of baseball/softball players. 33 baseball players for the University of Oregon baseball team were tested last two weeks (hoping to test a few more). I’ll compare their catching accuracy in this task within the baseball player group and against non-athlete controls. Stay tuned!
