Harnessing the power of business to accelerate the net zero future

It was great to see the outpouring of love and celebration in my feed for #internationalwomensday2024. But let's not lose sight of some facts: 👉 Globally, 2.8 BILLION women face legally-enforced restrictions in their choice of work. 👉 There's about a 30% gap between women's and men's participation in the labor market. 👉 Far more women occupy vulnerable, informal, low-wage, or part-time work than men. 👉 Globally, on average, women are paid 20% less for the same work, even in developed countries. The discrepancy increases for women of color and for mothers. And yet, in the US at least, the Equal Pay Act is still not the law. 👉 Women still perform the majority of non-paid care work, globally. By 2050, this is still expected to be an average of 2.5 hours per day more than men. 👉 Climate change will make everything worse for women, who are impacted disproportionately. And more bad news: 👇 we're not retaining or taking care of female executives, which means we're not making any real gains in female leadership at the top. We should all feel proud of our progress, but let's not lose sight that we have a long way to go! https://lnkd.in/gfWWmUXK #iwd #womensempowerment
