Like many other parts of my own marketing function, this has taken a back seat until this year. A classic case of doing it for my clients, but not taking heed myself. 2023 has been the year I've kicked myself up the arse big time. Well, you know what I mean. If only I was that flexible. I love the ease of starting a newsletter. Anyone with valuable insights or a good enough offering can start in less than a week. But I fear this also damages the newsletter industry as a whole. At some point, there will be so many newsletters that people won’t be taking their inboxes as seriously. This would lower open rates for even the genuinely valuable newsletters.
