In Offshore magazine experts Pete Simpson and Mike Campbell authored a paper on how FPSO power consumption can be lowered by using Deep Seawater Intake Risers (SWIR), which draw cooler water from the deep sea. Benefits include: ✅ Reduced fuel consumption for the gas turbines, hence reduced CO2 production and an increase in produced gas. ✅ Reduced gas turbine power capacity. ✅ Potential for reduced area and weight of required heat exchangers. In CASE Cold Gas Gasification process, the gas generated from the GASIFIER is made to pass through a series of Gas Purifying and Gas Cooling Sections. The Final Gas is devoid of impurities and Gas temperatures of about 45°C are maintained. Under such conditions, the final gas is capable to be pressurised through specifically designed compressors. Depending on the distance between the compressor outlet and the utility, the pressure requirements of the burner combustion system and the line losses, the capacity of the compressors can be designed accordingly.
