Starting 2024 with our first marketing intern hire for the year! Damian Tan made an impression when he applied for a marketing internship ottertunity and responded to my punny email, inviting him for an interview. Here's his exact response (shared with his permission): Aloha Cass, Hope your long weekend was otterly awesome! Just a quick update that I've blocked out a slot for next Tuesday (21 Nov) from 2:30PM to 3:15PM. Looking forward to a fin-tastic chat! Best fishes, Damian This was the first time someone responded to me in 'our' lingo. And, of course, there were many reasons why he was eventually offered an internship with OtterHalf. My takeaway from this? I'm surprised at how much of an impression a candidate can make on me just by his response to an email inviting him for an interview. There's so much I'm learning about hiring, managing a business, and about myself every day. 💡

We 🧡our amazing interns @ Group M7, Inc.. I had some of the most amazing internships during college and love giving back to the next generation of professionals that way. We follow 3 simple rules: 1️⃣: We pay our interns 2️⃣: They work on REAL client projects and get to walk away from their internship with a larger protfolio or new skillsets 3️⃣: We want them to have fun and enjoy coming to work too. After all, they usually trade their well deserved summer break for sitting in an office all day Internships are required to complete most degrees in Europe and I think US higher ed institutions should consider it too. #justmyopinion But for now, we will do our best to provide more internship opportunities to students that are driven and ready to put their classroom knowledge to good use. #interns #internships #agencyinternships
Today marks the end of my incredible summer internship at Group M7, Inc. I am deeply grateful for the wonderful people I've met, the amazing projects I had the privilege to be a part of, and the invaluable technical and personal skills I’ve gained. Can you believe we’re in Q2 of the calendar year and Q4 of the financial year! Thought I might give you an insight into some of what the last quarter saw for The Marketing GP. ☑️ We mentored Chelsea, a work experience student and events intern Olivia, as part of our wider internship program. ☑️ Our NPS survey was sent out and we had an increase in responses for this round, as well as some amazing feedback (with not one detractor in sight!) We also got some really great constructive feedback, which have put into our operational planning update. ☑️ We had a number of our team take some well-deserved breaks and go to some amazing places, both here in Australia and overseas – stay tuned for photos I am sure! ☑️ Our regular WIP meetings occurred each Monday, to ensure we are delivering for our marketing implementation retainer clients – both day-to-day, but also in line with the bigger picture of their strategy ☑️ The Easter Bunny delivered not only some chocolate, but also a session from our corporate masseuse. ☑️ We updated ten very detailed templates in our project management system, inline with our approach to continuous improvement for our processes. The upshot is we work smarter, not harder and continue to up the ante on our efficiency for our clients ☑️ Various team members attended 16 networking and business events to hear from amazing speakers and catch up with clients and stakeholders. A large number of those were related to International Women’s Day – which is now almost a month! ☑️ We had a team meeting and training day, which was an opportunity to learn from each other, talk about the year ahead and ensure we’re all on the same page ☑️ 1,23,456,789 photos and videos were taken (well that’s what our phone storage seems to think!) And to be honest, this is just the tip of the iceberg 🧊🧊🧊 When people ask me what our team is like, the key thing I seem to always say is how hard everyone works. We have a great culture (which is what you often see on our socials), but by golly does this team produce some amazing outputs. 🎯 Can’t wait to see what this quarter delivers 🎯

This event provided our talented interns with a platform to present their projects, pitch new ideas, and share their learning outcomes. Each intern showcased their achievements and discussed the challenges they faced, underscoring the invaluable lessons learned along the way. . A common theme in their presentations was the significant impact of our supportive and collaborative work environment, which empowered them to excel. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all supervisors for their guidance and to Troy Takarn Ananthothai and Chayut Jetjaroennukul for their valuable feedback and encouragement as guest commentators. . Our interns have grown tremendously through this experience, and Globish has equally benefited from their fresh perspectives and innovative ideas. Our founder highlighted that a previous intern developed the first CRM system at Globish, showcasing the impactful contributions interns can make. Many of our interns have since transitioned to full-time roles and even reached senior management positions, proving that interns' contributions are just as valuable as those of any other employees. . This past week in our class, we shared a beautiful movie called "The Intern." It was definitely a movie whose essence was diversity in the workplace, and so far it has taught me, with its different examples, how important it is to have a team within a culture that allows for growth. To that end, I have highlighted 3 important benefits of diversity in the workforce: -Enhanced Innovation and Creativity: Teams with diverse backgrounds, ages, and experiences bring a richer pool of ideas to the table. The movie highlights how Ben sparks creativity among Jules' young team, while he too learns new approaches to business, such as leveraging social media. -Stronger Connection with Customers: A diverse workforce better reflects the diversity within a company's customer base. This allows for better understanding of customer needs and facilitates the creation of products or services that resonate with a wider audience. The Intern subtly suggests Jules' company might better connect with older audiences after having Ben on board. -Attracting and Retaining Top Talent: Companies that prioritize diversity are perceived as progressive and inclusive, which makes them more attractive to top talent from a wider pool of job seekers. This competitive edge helps in the recruitment and retention of skilled employees. As you can see, "The Intern," while a light-hearted comedy, provides subtle but important reminders concerning age diversity in particular, and how embracing it can benefit a workplace.
