The National Grid ESO successfully launched the first phase of its Open Balancing Platform. The platform will give engineers a pre-selected list of units to work within the control room, meaning fewer manual instructions will be needed to balance mechanism units. Open Balancing Platform is changing how network requirements are met for the better, and we are here for it. With it, control room engineers can send hundreds of instructions allowing battery storage to play a more active role. We can expect to see the release of the other phases across 2024 and 2025.
