After spending yesterday at Sustaintech Venture Day in Stockholm the world seems a bit brighter and climate change less scary. It's comforting to know that there are numerous smart, innovative companies and entrepreneurs who work hard every day to build a better planet for us all. Here are a few lessons learned from the panels, one of which my colleague Maria Groschopp Dellwik joined together with Sofia Graflund, Anna Skarborg and moderated by Boel Swartling.   ▪ Resilience and Adaptation:  The past years have been challenging for all but companies are now re-adjusting their metrics, learning from past experiences and getting ready for their next big leap. Companies must dare to take risks.   ▪ IPO Market Activity: With the interest rates coming down, the valuation gap is narrowing and companies are gearing up to go public again. Unlike the last IPO boom where companies listed earlier in their growth cycles, today's companies need to be more mature, have a clear vision for profitability, and articulate their equity story effectively to investors.   ▪ SMEs and the Green Transition: The majority of our economy is made up of SMEs. It’s crucial to ensure they are able to join the green transition as well.   ▪ Redefining Success: Successful, disruptive companies don't just compete better; they redefine what success means. Europe must do the same to stay competitive. What kind of society are we aiming to build?   ▪ Successful businesses need to be      Fun: Enhance everyday life       Cost-Competitive: Have buyers willing to pay       Safe: Adhere to regulatory frameworks   Another panel summarized well the evergreen tips for scaling your business globally: ·       Access to right investors who can open doors to new markets ·       Ecosystem of partners ·       A product that can scale and scale at the right moment ·       Resilience ·       A solid customer pool ·       A strong team ·       Intellectual Property (IP) ·       Effective sales and marketing strategies I will not even try to summarize the presentations of cleantech scale-ups ( I would probably capture it incorrectly anyway) but thank you all for inspiring pitches!
