⭐I am thrilled to announce the completion of my 3-month Bioinformatics internship at BioNome | For Genomics & Bioinformatic Solution under the guidance of Samiksha Bhor and Shubham Wanarase. Throughout this internship, I had the opportunity to deepen my knowledge and skills in several areas, including: Molecular Docking: Gained expertise in predicting interactions between biomolecules, essential for drug design. In Silico Pharmacological Studies: Conducted analyses to assess the efficacy and safety of various compounds. Computer-Aided Drug Discovery: Learned innovative strategies to enhance the drug discovery process. NGS Data Analysis: Developed skills in analyzing next-generation sequencing data, providing insights into genomic research. A highlight of my internship was working on a project focused on Phytocompounds from Bacopa monnieri as potential inhibitors of OCD. This experience allowed me to apply my skills in a real-world context and contribute to meaningful research. 🌟Excited to Share My Completion of a Genetic Engineering Internship at Intrainz! 🌟 I’m happy to announce that I recently finished an online internship in Genetic Engineering with Intrainz. This experience helped me learn more about how genetic science is transforming medicine and technology. During this internship, I gained experience in: Gene Editing: Learned about CRISPR/Cas9 and how it’s used to edit genes, with huge potential for future medical treatments. Genetic Modification: Explored ways to modify genes in different organisms, learning about both the possibilities and the ethical questions around it. Bioinformatics: Worked with software to study and interpret genetic data, which improved my ability to understand complex genetic information. Research Skills: Worked on case studies, developed research methods, and discussed the latest ideas in genetic engineering. This internship also helped me improve my critical thinking, research skills, and problem-solving abilities. I’m grateful to my mentors and fellow interns at Intrainz for making this journey so rewarding. Tools: Needleman-Wunsch (global) or Smith-Waterman (local). Multiple Sequence Alignment (MSA): Aligns more than two sequences. Tools: Clustal Omega, MUSCLE, MAFFT. BLAST (Basic Local Alignment Search Tool): BLASTn: DNA to DNA comparison. BLASTp: Protein to protein comparison. BLASTx/tBLASTx: Translated nucleotide searches for protein sequences. BLAST works by finding regions of local similarity, ideal for identifying homologous genes. ORF (Open Reading Frame) Alignment: ORF prediction identifies potential protein-coding sequences, focusing on protein-coding regions rather than non-coding DNA. Protein Domain Alignment: Tools like HMMER (based on Hidden Markov Models) identify conserved protein domains across species. Phylogenetic Analysis: Uses sequence alignments to construct evolutionary trees (neighbor-joining, maximum likelihood methods). Tools: MEGA, RAxML. ✨ Wrapping up an unforgettable summer internship at the Human Genetics & Therapeutics Lab at KAUST Smart-Health Initiative ✨ This summer, I traded my stethoscope for a pipette and dived into the fascinating world of cell biology and molecular medicine. Working on a project involving children with osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) and exploring a rare variant in the TAPT1 gene was both challenging and eye-opening. It completely flipped the script on how I understand diseases, allowing me to see them not just from a clinical perspective, but at the molecular and cellular levels. 🌱🔬 Connecting the dots between what I’ve learned in medicine and these advanced lab techniques has given me a richer, deeper understanding of how complex diseases work. I got hands-on with some pretty cool techniques: • 🧫 Aseptic cell culture • ❄️ ⁠Freezing and thawing cells • 🔬 ⁠Mycoplasma testing • 🧪 ⁠Plasmid DNA Purification • 💪 Protein extraction • 🧬 ⁠Genotyping by PCR • 🖇️ ⁠Western blotting A huge thank you to Professor Bruno REVERSADE and Aljohara Alotaibi for their guidance and support throughout this journey—I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to learn from both of you.
