Imagine the scenario. It's a lovely sunny day 😎 and I am visiting a manufacturing company to discuss a safety project application. Me; "So, what is it you're looking for?" Safety Engineer; "Well, it's a bit complicated". Me; "Try me." Safety Engineer; "I need a heavy-duty solenoid locking switch". Me; "No problem". Safety Engineer; "...and I want to connect it to our network. We use Siemens here". Me; "PROFISafe over PROFINET. OK". Safety Engineer; "...I also want to configure some pushbuttons, as a reset and request to enter, stuff like that". Me; "OK". Safety Engineer; "...and Trapped Key Interlocks for added safety". Me; "I know just the thing. Check out this video." Safety Engineer; "Really???". It does sound complicated, but it doesn't need to be. The IDEM UGB-NET (Universal Gate Box) provides heavy-duty RFID-coded guard interlocking, lock monitoring, and machine control functions in a single heavy-duty housing. As a networked solution, the UGB-NET also boasts integrated safe industrial ethernet capabilities using PROFINET with PROFISafe or Ethernet/IP with CIP Safety. It will even interface with IDEM trapped key interlocks for a really comprehensive safety solution. If you're looking for an easy-to-install, reliable, guard locking solution, you can customise the IDEM UGB-NET for your specific full-body access application. Click https://lnkd.in/exX2tfCE and check out our video which shows what this new product has to offer. And if you want to discuss a safety-related application - no matter how complicated you think it might be, drop me a message. The solution could be a lot more straightforward than you think 👍 #PROFISafe #EthernetIP #CIPSafety #EmployeeSafety #Manufacturing IDEM Safety Switches Tony Baggott

Alhamdulillah, successfully conducted an in-house training session for the electrical team on the 500kV Busbar protection system. Covered key topics including the working principle, detailed system control circuit drawing of SIPROTEC 5.0 Siemins 7SS85. and the LIBBP for the 500kV 3/2 Busbar scheme. Also discussed critical protection functionalities such as Busbar differential protection, Overcurrent protection, Breaker failure, and Autorecloser protection. Proud to share knowledge with the team to enhance team technical knowledge regarding in-house installed for system reliability at our plant. #ElectricalEngineering #PowerSystems #BusbarProtection #TeamTraining #ContinuousImprovement

I have come to appreciate the importance of safety barriers in control systems. A rule of thumb; it's important to separate PLC and control voltage to ensure a stable and reliable PLC system and to safeguard the safety and efficiency of the factory equipment.

Switching operations in a 132 kV grid involve several critical steps and considerations to ensure safety, reliability, and efficiency. Here are the key aspects: 1. Purpose of Switching:Maintenance: i. Isolate sections for repairs or upgrades. ii.Fault Clearance: Remove faulty equipment from service. iii.Load Management: Redistribute loads to maintain system balance. 2. Safety Protocols:Lockout/Tagout (LOTO): i.Ensure equipment is de-energized and cannot be inadvertently energized. ii.Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Ensure all personnel wear appropriate PPE. iii.Grounding: Ground all isolated sections to prevent electrical shock.

🚧 The MPTV Grounding Monitor is a grounding tester device designed to supervise and ensure the correct grounding of vehicles or containers that load or transfer flammable and/or combustible products. The MPTV grounding monitor will minimize the risk of generating a spark at the moment of grounding the truck. It is built on an E.P.B. (explosion-proof box) with all accessories such as the portholes or the push button for testing lamps of the same type, i.e. explosion-proof (Ex). -Once the hazmat or fuel truck is grounded by the clamp, grounding is initiated through a high impedance resistance, in order to minimize the initial discharge. After a period of 5 seconds, the ground connection is cleared and service can then start. -The MPTV grounding monitor also has a set of auxiliary NO/NC (NA/NC Spanish) terminals that can be used to control a solenoid valve or other intervening device in the process, which will not be activated until the truck is safely grounded. -Among the functions monitored by the control system is the connection of the ground to the truck, the waiting and the start of service. Each status is indicated by different colored lamps to avoid false readings. The lamps are LED and have a test button that turns them all on simultaneously to check their status. MPTV: Grounding Moniitor Supply voltage: 100 - 220 VAC Maximum permissible grounding value: 10Ω Discharge time at high impedance: 8 sec. Operating temperature: -20°C to + 65°C Degree of protection: IP66 Category Ex: Ex d (ib IIC Gb) ib IIB + H2 T6 Gb Auxiliary contacts: 1 set of dry contacts - 5 A @ 220 VAC Dimensions: 10.0 x 9.8 x 8.1 in (Width - Height - Depth) Clamp cable length: 10 Mtr. #proinex #lightning_protection #mptv #grounding_device #ehs #chem #hazard

🔧 Pressure Switch in Action 🌡️ This pressure switch plays a critical role in ensuring operational safety. In case of a rupture disk failure, it sends an immediate signal to the DCS (Distributed Control System), allowing for prompt corrective action. #IndustrialSafety #ProcessControl #ChemicalEngineering #FieldOperations

Installing cabling into distribution units A maximum level of ingress protection is required on the tops of these units Installer error or a developed fault? 80% of observations on average are due to installer error. Just 20% of observations relate to out of date equipment/protection and break down of cabling #eicr #electricalinspection #competence
