While I try to keep productive, especially towards the high-impact items, I've found that a good medium for note-taking is among the most important things -- to me. I've tried a bunch of different methods for taking notes and listing to-dos, and the Hobonichi Techo notebook has been the most beneficial for me. By far. Physically writing things down just hits different, and having an open page of things I need to follow through with literally staring me in the face all day has been very good for me. Anyone who has worked with me has likely seen me carrying around this small black notebook. A lucky few have also seen it sitting on machines or other workstations after I've forgotten it somewhere. The latter has happened more than I'll admit. 🙂 What makes this notebook more useful to me than other mediums I've tried is the organization of the space dedicated to taking notes and scribbling down things. Each day has it's own page, while staying in a small handheld format. This not only helps during the day, it also helps when I need to go back and look at what I had going on a couple days or weeks ago. As I was shopping to purchase a fresh, clean, and (most importantly) new-smelling book for 2025, I immediately went back to Hobonichi. I want to share how valuable this tool has been in my daily routine, and recommend it to anyone looking to have a compact, simple, useful notebook for whatever your daily needs are. Using Our Own Product: Using our own product helps us identify and fix issues much faster. There's nothing quite like firsthand experience to uncover the nuances and areas for improvement. Getting Real Feedback: Gathering feedback directly from lawyers and clients as a paralegal offers a unique perspective that you can't get as an outside product manager. Staying Connected: Even with a dedicated paralegal team now (I was the first!), I stay involved in operations. It keeps me grounded and ensures I stay in touch with the day-to-day realities. It’s easy to lose touch once you step away, but staying connected keeps my perspective clear and realistic. Use your product as much as you can. It can make all the difference.
