There are different types of autonomous emergency braking (AEB) systems in vehicles today. Newer AEB system can now detect pedestrians or cyclists in traffic while reverse emergency braking systems can detect when objects are too close to the vehicle’s rear end. These AEB system can be helpful to prevent potential collisions. But drivers should remain focused while driving and pay attention to their surrounding traffic environment. QUESTIONS WITH ANCAP: Tell me about pedestrian safety and large vehicles. What is ANCAP doing there? The size and mass of vehicles plays a big part in crash outcomes - for the other vehicles they may crash into as well as pedestrians & cyclists. Our testing focuses on protecting those inside the vehicle and avoiding crashes with others. Technologies like autonomous emergency braking and lane support help protect pedestrians & cyclists. Our crash compatibility tests also ensure bigger vehicles don’t cause excessive damage to other vehicles they crash into. Safer designs reduce risks and protect everyone on the road. #AEB #Crashtests #ANCAP #Pedestriansafety
