So - according to the Sunderland Echo - the Pallion Shipyard is not included in the Crown Works Studios proposal, as per this paragraph in its most recent article: "The council committee report also notes that the ‘Pallion Engineering’ buildings near phase one of the scheme, which include former shipyard buildings and dry docks, are not included in the Crown Works Studios planning application." It is interesting to note that this particular snippet appears at a time when our requests to the various parties involved still remain unanswered. Perhaps this is their answer, via a 3rd party. Despite this news, caution is still the watchword of the moment and this should not be taken as read until official confirmation can be proven. But a 21st century shipyard and a 21st century film studio complex can happily co-exist in the same city, with both providing strong career prospects in a wide ranging field of trades. We are now simply waiting for a reply from / decision by the National Shipbuilding Office. Let's hope their ongoing silence is for the right reason. #shipbuilding #shiprepair #shipyard #marineengineering #sunderland
