CEO vs. CFO. What are the main differences? The CFO should be the right hand of the CEO. But is there a limit to how much a CFO can take over? Let's look at some examples... 🏬 CEO sets the direction 💰 CFO drives it throughout the company 🏬 CEO decides on the budget 💰 CFO recommends the budget level and follows up 🏬 CEO drives the culture of the company 💰 CFO leads by example 🏬 CEO manages the C-suite 💰 CFO manages the finance leadership team+ 🏬 CEO generates new business and projects 💰 CFO makes new business and projects profitable 🏬 CEO is the right hand of the chairman 💰 CFO is the right hand to the CEO How would you describe the difference between the two roles? Do you think the CFO would make a good CEO? ---------- 🧑💼 I'm a partner at Business Partnering Institute 🆘 Need immediate help in your finance team, call us! 🤝 We help increase the influence of your finance team 🔔 To see more of my content, hit the bell on my profile 📻 #FinanceMaster podcast: https://bit.ly/3NLSt73 📄 Check out all our templates and cheat sheets here: https://lnkd.in/eC_zuCU4

In 45 years in corporate life, I have yet to experience this. Don’t get me wrong, but leaving implementation entirely to the CFO is grossly unfair to him or her. The CFO has a very definitive role to play in ensuring the financial health of the corporation and this includes ensuring fiscal discipline, something that places him/her at odds with the implementation team. Corporate execution is a team game that includes the CEO, CFO, COO and their peers.

Interesting, although in my experience in startups, the CEO and the Chairman of the Board are the same person.

CEO sets the vision, but CFO rolls out the strategy. Can CFO exceed that? 🤔
