Time for a TUESDAY TIP from Anderson Center Consulting and Training! If you're making plans to take a vacation this summer, there is much you can do to prepare your autistic or neurodivergent loved ones so that everyone can have a wonderful time. First of all, consider destinations and lodging that will provide ample space for relaxing and decompressing. Also: consider pulling up some photos online to show your autistic or neurodivergent vacationer what to expect; visuals can reduce anxiety that comes from worrying about what might lie ahead. And - if you can call airports/transportation hubs and your hotel/resort in advance to request that you can check in early or move through lines more quickly, that can make a big difference as well. These are just a few of many things you can do to make your time away from home as enjoyable as possible. And if you would benefit from an in-home consultation or parent training on this or any number of topics, reach out to our team today: acct@andersoncares.org. #actuallyautistic #neurodiversitytraining #neurodiversity #autismtraining #specialneedsparents #specialneedsteachers #specialneeds #neurodiverse #neurodivergent #autisticemployees #neurodivergentemployees #workplaceculture #neurodiverseworkplace #neurodiverseteam #community #andersoncenterconsultingandtraining #corporatetraining #communitytraining #autismworkshops #neurodiversitytraining #inclusion #accessibility #diversity #equity #socialimpact #intellectualdisabilities #ASE #ASC #ACCT

Finally heading home after three weeks of work related travel. This is my longest stretch this year. Balancing chronic pain, digestive health, wellness, fatigue with the desire to be present in spaces of learning and facilitating key workshops at conferences is something I have not figured out yet. I had more migraines this trip than usual. In order to fully hear people, I need to be fully present and this is utterly exhausting, one conference had poor captioning and the other provided me with my own CART service, but it was still insufficient - although I find the travel essential to the work, I wish as a sector, we were finding better ways to implement more accessible practices holistically...the captioning was just one access point...there were so many more issues we can work on. I am returning with so many new connections, lessons, and a strong desire to build more disability inclusive practices in our convening - starting with a truly hybrid experience. I know folks are zoomed out - but there should always be a solid option that is just as great - and we are so far from that! (I should add: I love presenting at convenings - it’s hard to do this remotely in the most effective way and I’m an extrovert - but it’s clearly not sustainable!) #DisabilityInclusion #Philanthropy #HybridLearning

Politics & democracy there an every day thing. The two main parties, are anyone of them really worth it? So what changes are available.
It's enlightening to see how myths can shape our perceptions about safety in society. Often, we hear that making spaces safer leads to increased costs and resource allocation. But the truth is quite the opposite; investing in safety not only protects lives but can also lead to reduced long-term costs on healthcare and emergency services. Another common misconception is that community involvement doesn't matter. Yet, collaborative efforts and community voices are crucial. Bringing together diverse perspectives not only enriches the conversation but also drives effective solutions that work for everyone. How about the belief that safety measures are just temporary fixes? That's a myth too! Sustainable practices, when rooted in community engagement, help build lasting change and resilience. Let's challenge these misperceptions together, advocate for real solutions, and create a safer world for all. 🌍💪 https://lnkd.in/eSfk9xrC
