One Mariner we can't help but think of when it comes to his dedication to customers is our Account Director, Steve Higgins!
Steve stands out for many, having been a part of Mariner since 2008, where he began his journey as a co-op student and then full time after graduating from Dalhousie University. Through the years, Steve has held several roles as Marketing Coordinator, Delivery Coordinator, and Delivery Manager, but it wasn’t until his work in recruitment that he discovered a real interest in the sales side of the business.
"What first got me interested in Sales was actually my role in Delivery, where I had responsibility for recruitment activities. As a small company we would need to often pitch ourselves to top talent that we were trying to attract, and there would be lots of negotiations on salaries, compensation packages, etc. I enjoyed pitching and negotiation, so naturally thought that Sales would be a good path for me to follow to progress my career."
Today, with 14 years of experience in the IT services field and over 4 years on the Sales team, Steve enjoys the challenges of selling professional services and solutions to the communications service providers (CSP) market. Here, he thrives from managing large customer accounts and continuously building relationships with customers. He takes pride in his ability to collaborate with clients to find innovative and creative solutions when solving their unique business challenges, "I enjoy being an advocate for my customers, going the extra mile, and being flexible in helping to meet their challenges and needs".
As for what Steve loves about working with Mariner, he says it's the "excellent leadership team that supports their employees, the many opportunities for growth and development, and the flexible work environment" that make Mariner the ideal place to work!
