Here are some ideas of enriching earth day activities we like to do together, that also encourage their independence: 1️⃣ Gardening, one of their favorites! With this activity we are not only creating memorable time together, but also enriching our children with knowledge of where does our food come from, how to grow something and much more. 2️⃣ Letting them spend as much time as possible outside, rain, snow or shine, The more time we spend outdoors as children, the more likely we will be comfortable doing it as adults. As part of a pre-birth course, I was just sitting in the corner of this room, listening to how the room environment was carefully designed to ensure that when a mother gives birth, she doesn't feel like she is in a typical hospital room surrounded by medical equipment. Instead, the space aims to feel a safe, 'natural' place where the oxytocin, or happy hormones can rise. The term 'tværfaglig'- interdisciplinary, is something I often hear at work, but this time I experienced it in a completely different context: in a state-of-the-art birthing room at Regionshospitalet Gødstrup. If you could just hear my thoughts, I was just shocked to hear the long list of so different professions who contributed to designing the room. Midwives - Their childbirth experience ensures the design supports both the mother and medical staff, focusing on natural births. Doctors - They ensure the design meets medical and safety standards, especially for emergencies. Nurses - Their input ensures efficient workflows and a calming environment for patient care. Architects - They design a functional and aesthetically pleasing birthing room. Interior Designers - They create a visually comforting, serene space, reducing the clinical feel. Lighting Designers - They design soft, adaptable lighting to reduce stress during labor. Psychologists - They ensure the design supports the mother’s mental well-being, promoting relaxation. Scenographers - They design sensory elements like visuals and sound to create a calming atmosphere. Feng Shui Experts - They ensure the room’s energy flow promotes harmony and calmness. Anthropologists - They design a space that feels inclusive for women of different backgrounds. Game Developer - They help create an interactive environment with adjustable lighting, sound, and visuals. Special Forces Soldier - Their insights aid in designing a space that supports calm under pressure. Animal Keepers – They offer insights into stress-free environments to help create a calming atmosphere. & a lots of Data from mothers, and not only. With a strong focus on tasks over status, cooperation is ingrained in the Danish culture. This, along with lots of trust, fosters an environment where remarkable things happen. Curvilinear design fosters comfort, encourages movement, and connects people to nature. By replacing sharp angles with soft, flowing lines, these spaces naturally reduce stress and promote social interaction, making them ideal for diverse settings. Here are some key advantages: 1. Psychological Comfort Curved shapes tend to evoke feelings of safety and calm, while sharp edges and angular designs can provoke anxiety. People prefer curvilinear spaces as they are associated with positive emotions and a sense of ease, which can reduce stress. 2. Connection to Nature Curved forms mimic natural patterns, such as flowing water and organic structures. This biophilic resonance helps people feel more connected to nature, which has been shown to lower stress and enhance well-being. Biophilic design principles often prioritize these organic shapes to create restorative environments. 3. Flow and Movement: Spaces with curves guide movement more naturally than rigid, rectilinear designs. This improves navigation and reduces feelings of confinement, making environments feel more spacious and easy to move through, which can be particularly beneficial in healthcare, educational, and creative spaces. 4. Perception of Safety Rounded edges and curves make a space feel more secure. Unlike sharp angles, which can subconsciously signal danger, curves provide a sense of protection. This is especially important in environments like hospitals or mental health facilities, where promoting a sense of safety is crucial for healing. 5. Cognitive Ease Curved forms are processed more easily by the brain. According to research, this requires less cognitive effort and makes environments feel more harmonious and visually restful. Spaces with curves can thus create a sense of balance and mental clarity. 6. Encouraging Social Interaction Curved spaces foster more organic social interaction. By eliminating rigid corners, curved layouts can create inviting areas where people are more likely to engage in conversation and collaboration. 10 Tips on Designing Spaces with Consideration of the Needs of People with Epilepsy 1. Quiet spaces: Some people with epilepsy experience ‘auras’, which essentially warn them they are about to have a seizure. Access to a quiet space allows them to feel they are somewhere safe before the seizure takes place and gives them somewhere quiet to recover afterwards. 2. Discrete sources of support, such as a recessed channel in a wall: This might require only a minimal design adjustment but will provide support and reduce the risk of injury. Creating minimalist and aesthetically pleasing support features through design helps people with disability feel more independent and reduces the clinical feel of spaces. 3. Indirect sources of light and the use of natural light:  Three per cent of people with epilepsy suffer seizures due to light sensitivity and flashing lights through photosensitive epilepsy. Therefore, creating spaces using well-placed windows, indirect sources of light through light fittings focused on walls and ceilings (which act as reflectors and spread light around the space evenly), dimmable lighting and reducing glare by specifying diffusers and/or antiglare lights all could help. 4. Temperature controls:  Ensuring the environment is a comfortable temperature helps keep the body’s temperature regulated and stabilized. 5. Use of natural and soft materials:  Natural to promote wellbeing and soft to minimize risk of injury from falls. 6. Double-swinging doors or double-action doors:  Enabling other people to gain access in the event that someone seizes behind a door. 7. Avoid contrasting and repetitive patterns. 8. Design with sensory overload in mind. 9. Clear wayfinding. 10. It was a hot afternoon summer day when I stumbled upon this website. As a WEB DESIGNER, I can say…. This website (pennyjuice.com) has more potential to reach 📈 ... Let me list out the things that can be changed and then how can it be changed, 1. Color contrasts 🎨 2. Typography 🖌 3. Content layouts 💻 4. Unwanted sections ❌ Now, let’s see 1 by 1 how can it be changed, 1️⃣ Color Contrasts: When we look at each section of the website, we can immediately know that there’s no continuity, no match between any immediate colors. The solution is to choose 3 major colors which are in contrast to each other, in this case, we can even use gradient colors to show the colorfulness. 2️⃣ Typography: The fonts are quite decent but the size and placements in a better layout help the people to know what content that they should first focus on. 3️⃣ Content layouts: The website’s layout can be improved. The main reason a website is built is to convey the important pain points of the company in a most attractive way by which they can convert visitors into customers. Some major corrections in this website can change the level of potential it currently has. 4️⃣ Unwanted Sections: Every website should be careful in both including and excluding the contents. Here, I would quite disagree with including the Facebook and Twitter feeds. It may lower the professionalism of one’s site.
