Coach and consultant for sustainable tourism + Key Note Speaker + trainer for destinations & hotels + moderator for events & workshops

This week I had a one hour discussion with the team of a DMO (Destination Management Organisation). We talked about the aspects of sustainability and how this can help the organisation and the destination to become more successful and future resilient. I promised myself that I will do these open short talks and inspiring exchanges more often as I like to listen more than speaking. Sustainability is often perceived as an "on top" aspect to think about and that there is no time for it. Times are so dynamic - that´s what I heard - that we have no time to reflect and think. I left this meeting with the deep belief that slowing down internally when times speed up is the fastest way forward. We could take a new, fresh look at our daily operations. Sustainability is like quality: If embedded in every aspect and the overall attitude it generates advantages on every level. When talking and listenting in this meeting, I felt like this would be the natural outcome of many meetings... #tourythm #deeplistening #ourfuture

Totally agree! Clara Gulde and I just had similar discussins today. People need to be heard and understood. Then solutions and actions can be delivered together. Again it is more about the “Why” than the “How”. Our roles as coaches change. We need to listen, understand, then help to find answers and motivate actions.

Thank you for sharing this powerful insight Andreas. “Listen with the intention to understand” is one of the core agreements in all of my workshops. Often, the real questions as well as the answer awaits in the second, third or even later sentence… it’s so powerful

Dear Andreas so necessary indeed ,what you say!It is time to listen the people in the Destinations and talk to them after hearing ,understand their needs and design sustainability transformation with them .Then we might could say we work for a more resilient future..
