When it comes to trading, the statistics are everything. As someone who gets forex traders hedge fund funding I find that many traders talk a lot yet don’t have the results to back up their talk. A 6 month plus myfxbook track record on a real account with a regulated broker is a great first step towards getting great amounts of hedge fund funding. Typically funds want to see 2-3% per month within a 10% max drawdown. Yet many traders aim to make 20% per week and end up doing nothing but busting accounts over and over again and getting nowhere. So much of what these guys do relies upon overwhelming the market and using their balance sheets and access to funding. How many treasuries do they need to control to put this size on, how does it effect the overall liquidity, how many treasuries are rehypothecated? At what point is it deemed market manipulation when you can merely sell a commodity without limit? No doubt they are long all the US Treasury cash vs short futures which leads me to believe the convexity bid this next time around could see the US 10s drop 30 to 40 BP in a single day...if these guys are loaded up and making billions, whose taking the losses? U S banks?
