Last week, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen delivered a stock-taking address on the nine #CleanTransitionDialogues that have been taking place recently, wherein she highlighted a few key areas of focus that were identified by the dialogues. 🌱 The areas highlighted include a simplified regulatory framework in order for businesses to achieve energy transition targets, progress towards lowering energy prices, the modernization of infrastructure, reducing barriers to financing, and a robust Single Market that can compete globally. 💡 Solutions such as Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (#CCUS) are expected to play a key role in the transition to #NetZero, and are relevant to many—if not all of—the key areas highlighted by President von der Leyen in her address. Ember have put forward some concrete recommendations for the new EU Energy Commissioner which are all worth checking out. One in particular is an interest of mine - open energy data. The power system is changing rapidly with the continued deployment of solar, wind, storage, heat-pumps, EVs. Ensuring this all works together for the benefit of the system as a whole relies on an open exchange of timely, high-quality, standardized data.

We're putting forward four recommendations for the new EU Energy Commissioner. I think the list is pretty cool (and also more concrete than you usually see 😉). Super happy that agri-PV is included here, we can hopefully see it making it's way up on the political agenda as there really aren't that many actions with such clearly positive impact across so many angles (social and economic, energy and security, food and agriculture).

Europe moves to the polls starting tomorrow - let's keep the EU Green Deal ambitious and a priority! During the last election, in 2019, we saw what some called a 'green wave' (https://lnkd.in/dNVRryuk) resulting in the strong push towards the Green Deal. The Green Deal creates impact. European emissions related to the power sector have fallen by 20% since the last EU election, according to a recent analysis. All national power systems across the EU are cleaner than in 2019, with the EU's renewables share increasing from 34% in 2019 to 44% in 2023 (https://lnkd.in/dD_4ZPG2). The new EU policy agenda will likely emphasise security and competitiveness much more than in 2019. We need to elect politicians who integrate the Green Deal within this agenda and who keep up the momentum... #sustainability, #eugreendeal
