As we observe Alcohol Awareness Month, let's commit to addressing the harmful link between alcohol and sexual assault. Remember, it is never the victims fault when sexual assault happens. By raising awareness, educating others, and implementing prevention strategies, we can create a culture of consent and respect. https://lnkd.in/ef5U_iFF #alcoholawareness #AlcoholAwarenessMonth #alcoholandsexualabuse

During Sexual Assault Awareness Month, we want Kansans to know what to do if they experience sexual violence. If someone you know shares that they were sexually assaulted, it is important to listen without judgment, express that you believe them, and offer your support. Encourage them to report the crime to law enforcement and offer your help in connecting them with additional resources. If you have been sexually assaulted, it is not your fault. Many services, professionals, and resources are available to support you during this challenging time. You are not alone. - Our state has a 24/7 hotline where trained professionals will listen and can connect you to local resources. It’s not that we don’t understand why survivors get into abuse or won’t leave abuse - it’s that we don’t understand how perpetrators blackmail, brainwash, manipulate, coerce, control, and entrap survivors. If we did, we would compassionately say to the survivor, “Of course you did what you did - you were being abused.” #respectsurvivors #supportsurvivors
