GRSF is excited to share great news about the impact of our work in Fortaleza, Brazil! The VIDA Platform, which provides real-time data on road crashes and helps shape life-saving road safety improvements, won Brazil’s 2024 SENATRAN award in the category of Development of Technological Solutions in the Area of Road Safety Management. The VIDA Platform is based on the GRSF-developed DRIVER system. Fortaleza’s speed management program, which has reduced speed limits to 50 km/h on key roads and was implemented using data and evidence from the VIDA platform, won the Innovative Solutions and Projects Related to Road Infrastructure category. This game-changing speed management program has reduced fatal accidents by about 68%. Both initiatives showcase the impact of evidence-based interventions and technological solutions to improve road safety. Let’s continue working together toward safer roads and saving lives globally! https://lnkd.in/e55e2YNH

Here's a trick to jumpstart your next project! Imagine that your task is like a highway. When you want to work on a task, that means you have to get on the highway. The entry point is like putting on your turn signal and getting in the onramp lane. Once you are in that lane, it is hard not to get on the highway. Discover more: https://bit.ly/3DDgZzG

The key objectives of a TIA in our latest project at The Hub Karen were to: 1. Assess the development accessibility, circulation, and safety of all modes i.e. pedestrian, cyclist, public transport, private vehicles, service (goods), and emergency vehicles. 2. Assess the integration between the development and the surrounding area for the different transport modes. 3. Determine the impact of development traffic on the surrounding transport network and land uses. 4. Develop feasible plans to avoid, manage, and mitigate development impacts.

🚍❄️ Keeping passengers informed, no matter the weather! The collaboration between Equans and WaySine enables Société de transport de l'Outaouais (STO) in Gatineau, Quebec, to deliver reliable real-time passenger information, even at -30°F. With NAVINEO, Equans’ CAD/AVL system, and WaySine's solar-powered LED signs, the STO ensures seamless operations and an enhanced passenger experience. #PublicTransit #Innovation #NAVINEO
If Ice And Snow Don't Stop Your Bus Service, They Shouldn't Stop Your Riders Real-time Arrival Information Either! As an Arctic Blast prepares to sweep across the US and Canada, transit agencies are preparing to keep services running smoothly. For over 6 years, riders in Société de transport de l'Outaouais (STO) in Gatineau, Quebec have stayed informed with service announcements and next bus arrival information—even in temperatures as low as -30°F—thanks to our pole-mounted LED signs. Transit agencies have enough on their plates. Our signs are one less thing they need to worry about! Thank you to EQUANS, NAVINEO - an Equans’ offer, and Kilian Ollivier for partnering on this great project. In addition here is a great short video on Salt preparation by Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA)(https://lnkd.in/g6Z94Urv)

This may be of value for people in NZ
The TrackSAFE Foundation will hold its next railway crossing safety projects webinar on 5 December (via Teams). This online session will share four presentations on railway crossing safety projects, including a feasibility study that examines how real-time train information could inform pedestrians and road users of when a train will be passing, and indicate when and how long the boom gates will be closed. Also, findings from a level crossings behavioural assessments project which collected data at over 15 level crossing sites to allow an understanding of commonalities and differences in behaviour to help inform safety interventions. For detailed information including a link to join the free webinar is available at: https://lnkd.in/gGkmWspW

🚗 Dolphin Line Marking Applauds CSIRO Tunnel Line Marking Research! 🛤️ Whether you're zipping under the city, crossing the harbour, or passing through a mountain, tunnels are crucial to Australia's road and rail networks. These feats of engineering, some stretching up to nine kilometres, require precise planning and constant upkeep. The research into tunnel line marking ensures safety, preventing disasters we only want to see in movies like Daylight. While most don’t notice, road markings are essential for safety. At Dolphin Line Marking, we value the CSIRO’s efforts in testing and accrediting road marking materials, ensuring durability and performance for safer travel. 🌟 #Infrastructure #Safety #Engineering #Innovation CSIRO
