Great post, Mr. Branson! We have reached a critical juncture in terms of the way we educate. Children should not be taught predominantly for academic achievements but, more broadly, for the skills and abilities that will help them develop and contribute to society in the real world. The game of Chess is an excellent example of utilizing strategy and forward thinking. This skill set can teach our youth how to problem solve, think logically, and apply lessons learned in practical everyday situations. However, these skills should not remain confined to games but should be shared as core education techniques within all subjects to maximize our youth’s potential. So I agree that a necessary revamp of our education system is needed to ensure more holistic skill development throughout, ultimately better preparing our future generation for life outside the classroom.
