#JustH2Transit researcher Nina Wessberg visited the Tampere Hydrogen Summit on 22 January 2025 to hear what will pave the way to a clean hydrogen economy. The answer seems to be synthetic methane to replace current natural gas needs, synthetic methanol as transport fuel, and synthetic ammonia for marine transport and the fertiliser industry. There are 60 Hydrogen Events on this list from all over the globe. I am aware of three this year that are not on this list. I am all for decarbonizing the planet but I do wonder what the carbon impact of all these conferences is? Has anyone done the math? We learn every day and today is no exception. This story is about turquoise hydrogen, something I have never read about before. I am familiar with green, and blue hydrogen as well as white hydrogen which is found below the earth's surface in large pockets. White hydrogen is naturally occurring. This is about turquoise hydrogen which was around but not as pervasive. This new process developed lowers the temperatures needed to make the conversion while also being more efficient.
