I made this mistake when a rep was shadowing me at my 2nd sales gig We stood in sams clubs or knocked doors, trying to get estimates scheduled for our sales reps. The rep that was shadowing me and was on a pip. They told him to work with me at Sams Club for a day to see what I do (nice little ego boost right there). I was 24 at the time and mentoring and training still was pretty new to me. I noticed a problem the rep was having when spoke with a prospect. He spent 35 minutes, talking to the prospect who was just trying to kill some time and he continued on with it. In that time span, there were probably around 20-40 people that walked past us that may have actually wanted to discuss our services, not just shoot the shit. Here's where I messed up. After he was done with chatting with the lady, I came up to him and said "You spent 35 minutes talking to this lady. You're not supposed to do that! That was a lot of time you wasted!" With me coming at him like that, of course he didn't take that well. What I've learned throughout training mentoring and developing others is to us PCP. PCP stands for Praise Correct Praise. It's a nicer way to give criticism esp for someone you haven't established a strong relationship with yet. Using PCP I could have said "Hey, I can tell you're really friendly and great with talking to people, that lady really enjoyed the conversation! (PRAISE) One thing I noticed that could be worked on is the time spent engaging in the interaction as that could be used for speaking to other prospects that want what we have. Just mindful of that. (CORRECT). Other than that, I really like how you interact with people, keep the good vibes in each interaction!" If you already have an established relationship with the person though, and you can just be blunt and straight up say EXACTLY what you're thinking, then that's different. But I barely knew this rep, and should have went the PCP route. #sales #sdr #bdr #accountexecutive

“We should catch up and get lunch!” is one of the biggest well intentioned lies I’m starting to encounter as I get older. When you engage in conversation with a friend or relative you haven’t spoke to in a while, the vibes are high, you’re feeling good, and that phrase just comes out of your mouth or theirs. 80% of the time, the “get lunch” part never actually happens. But that’s ok. The overall sentiment of the conversation is positive. I actually tried taking someone up on their “get lunch” offer after I wished them a happy birthday, but the usual back and forth of trying to coordinate a date never worked out.

The question of "Should I move my clients out of the market and into cash" has probably crossed your mind. Here are two scenarios to think about. In both cases, you put your clients $100k into the s&p mid '04: A) You hold until today, that investment would be near $710k. B) You move your clients OUT of the market on 3/9/09-3/9/10 then buy back back in on 3/10/10 your investment today would be about $412k. By doing scenario "A)" your $100k investment would be up more than 72% compared to scenario "B)". (The returns would be slightly different since this graphs end date is 6/30/24 and isn't taking into account dividends reinvested, expense ratio etc.) #ycharts #investing

The WSOP (World Series of Poker) has been going on and if you follow poker at all you may have heard of Daniel Negreanu. Daniel Negreanu is one of the biggest names in poker, winning his first tournament in 1998 while being 23 years old. To this day, he's in the top 10 for poker earnings history (According to pokernews.org he's around $52.6M). I was watching Poker After Dark one night, and one of the commentators introduced a players as Daniel's coach/mentor. I thought to myself, what... Daniel has a coach??! 😮 I was confused because Daniels been playing for so long and has been successful, I didn't think he needed a coach/mentor since he must have it all figured out. This man is also almost 20 years younger than Daniel as well and probably looked up to Daniel as he was growing up. The take away from this post is Daniel's humility and openness to learn is something to be acknowledged. When you're a top performer / doing above average at something, you may think you know it all and added help isn't necessary. Especially being coached from someone younger than you, what do they know right?!?! I understand all high level professionals probably have a coach/mentor, but it reminded me that this type of openness to continue learning and improving is a factor to success. #selfimprovement #selfhelp #poker

When it comes to VOO vs SPY, SPY's expense ratio is 3x that of VOO (.03 vs. .09) and their holdings are the basically the same. I put together a scenario where you invested both in SPY and VOO on Oct 10th 2010 with a starting value of $500,000 to see which would be the better option. If you were to have held in both scenarios up until today, your investment in VOO would now be worth ~$3,211,000 while your investment in SPY would be worth ~$3,186,000. Now that's $25,000 at the end of 14 years. My question to investors and advisors, for those clients that are in SPY for the long haul, do you think it's worth switching them over to VOO because of this? #ycharts

Feeling like you're chasing titles, not dreams? I’ve been there too. We’re conditioned to seek prestige, to crave the next big title. But here’s the real truth: titles don’t make leaders. Purpose does. Think about it... When was the last time a fancy title truly fulfilled you? For me, it never did. I remember grinding away, climbing the corporate ladder, and still feeling empty. The problem wasn’t my work ethic. It was the lack of true purpose. I realized this when I decided to shift my focus from prestige to impact. It wasn’t easy. Letting go of the allure of titles felt risky. But it was the best decision I ever made. Suddenly, my work had meaning. I was driven by passion, not by the next title I could attain. Stop chasing titles. Start finding purpose. Align your goals with your core values. Shake things up in your role. Lead with conviction and authenticity. And guess what? The fulfillment is unmatched. True happiness comes when your work changes lives, not when it’s plastered on a nameplate. Feel that tug? That’s your real potential calling. Don’t let it slip away.

The urge to buy #NVIDIA solely for the sake of hype and chatter is real… Here’s are some lessons I’ve learned from throwing money at hype: 1) Most of the time it’s too late. Once I’ve heard about this awesome sauce stock/etf/crypto etc the move has already happened 2) I’m more antsy than ever because I know deep down this goes against my overall long term plan and I’m basing my decision making just off of what the bros said 3) I’ll check my phone like 10x more than I normally would, thus my time and attention is more occupied with the securities performance than what’s happening in real life What are some lessons you’ve learned when it comes to buying solely off of hype? #investing #stocks #nvda #finance

❌ Drop the people-pleasing - your self-worth isn't a democracy. It’s your dictatorship. When their words cut deep, ask yourself why. You're the one giving them the knife. Why let them carve a mark on your worth? Reclaim your power. Draw your boundaries. Firmly root in your values, morals, ethics. Empower your own narrative. Taunts aimed to disempower you? Ignore them. They're just noise. Your peace is sacred, not up for auction. Last time someone got under your skin - who gave them that ticket? It's time to snap those chains. Your peace? It's yours alone. Command it. #OwnYourValue #SelfEmpowerment #EmotionalIntelligence
