Happy Father’s Day from all of us at Andrews Logistics! Today, we’re shining a special spotlight on a story from our Aliquippa terminal. This summer, Royce, one of our mechanics, has the unique joy of working alongside his daughter, Emalee, as part of our internship program. There’s something truly special about the bond between a father and a daughter, especially when shared over the buzz of a busy workshop. Emalee shared that her favorite moments are the playful squabbles they have over tools. “My dad will tell me exactly where it is, and somehow, I can never find it until he shows me—and it’s always right where he said! We end up laughing every time.” It’s these little moments that turn a day at work into cherished memories. Emalee also mentioned, “He has taught me a lot,” highlighting the invaluable lessons and skills being passed down from one generation to another. This Father’s Day, we celebrate not just the bonds of family but the passing of knowledge and passion from father to daughter. Here’s to all the amazing dads like Royce who are not only shaping the future of their children but also inspiring them every step of the way. Have a wonderful Father’s Day! #FathersDay #FamilyBonding #AndrewsLogistics #InternshipExperience

My son, #DefreyAdipratama, who has #DownSyndrome, has recently completed his internship at #SKALA. Within two and half months, with a structured approach, including a workplan, a dedicated and committed buddy that provide guidance, and a supportive and friendly working environment, Defrey was able to progress well in learning important skills for future employment opportunities, including: sending/receiving emails with attachment, using #MSTeams to be guided by his buddy, making posters with #Canva, preparing #PowerPoint presentation materials, as well as doing a Power Point presentation on his potential and internship experience. As can be seen in the attached short video of the last few slides from about 20 slides, #Defrey was enjoying his presentation, doing it with confidence, in an interactive manner, and even with interesting intonation. After Defrey's final presentation on the last day of his internship, a brief but intimate discussion was held on the lessons-learned for #SKALA in the recruitment of an #IntellectualDisability intern. A number of lessons-learned include: i) #SKALA team have better understanding and appreciation on the potential of a #DownSyndrome intern; ii) clear progress can be observed during Defrey's internship on whatever he is learning to do; iii) what Defrey has achieved during his internship can be an inspiration to other parents of #PersonWithDisability, iv) there are potentials that can be applied in certain components of a development program, for example presenting ideas/concept that relates to #Disability and/or #SocialInclusion, as it will create bigger impact if presented by a #PersonWithDisability. The way #Defrey made his presentation, in addition to showing his potential, will also contribute to the fight against the stigma of what a #DownSyndrome person can or cannot achieve. From my perspective, this internship approach for #IntellectualDisability/#DownSyndrome is a good model that is worthwhile to be shared and replicated, not just within Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade programming, but also with other #DevelopmentPartners, as well as #GOI institutions, considering the very limited effort and opportunity for empowering #IntellectualDisability, so that they can be better prepared to enter the employment market as well building the interest amongst public and private entity to open up employment opportunities for #IntellectualDisability Much appreciation to Astrid Kartika , Petrarca Karetji , the #SKALA team, Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and DT Global for opening up the opportunity and provided guidance, support and friendship in growing #Defrey's skills, knowledge and experience for him to be better prepared for future opportunities, as well as to inspire other parents/communities of #IntellectualDisability/#DownSyndrome on what can be achieved by people with #DownSyndrome. Corporate Headquarters as a Market Delivery Intern This is what Carlton had to say about being in STS Enterprise Corporation “I definitely believe every student who wants to succeed and be the best professional possible should join STS. Not only does STS give you the skills you need to be professional, but you will meet coaches that will have your back and treat you like family.” What does it mean to land an Internship with a company like Lowe’s? “Landing this internship means that I can be successful in whatever I put my mind too. It is showing me that even though it may be hard trying something new, you definitely should push for new experiences and push yourself to be the best you can” How has being in STS Elite helped you personally? “STS helped me on my journey by pushing and believing in me. When I first started STS I was very quiet and to myself. They helped me open up and it worked out for the better. The coaches were persistent in seeing me succeed and giving me different tips, tools & advice to be the professional I desire to be. STS is really a family and they want everyone to get the bag and make excellence the norm.” Share some encouraging words in the comments for Carlton as he works to make himself, his family, and Memphis Proud #MemphisBestKeptSecret #WeDoThis #MakingExcellenceTheNorm ##TeamSTS #CareerExploration #CareerReadiness #MemphisYouth
