Some interesting points on the power of open source and global knowledge sharing in pushing change forward. 🎮 Shouts to Accessibility in Gaming! 🎉 There's still a long way to go, but developers continue to introduce amazing features to make games accessible for disabled players. A lot of great talks at Deque Systems, Inc's axe-con this week but my favourite by far has to be the talk by Morgan Baker on the importance of including the disability community in the game development process 👏 Instead of designing *for*, the goal is to design *with* - truly embracing the principle of "Nothing about us without us." Big thanks to Morgan for talking about all the different ways the co-creation and inclusion of the disabled gamers can and should happen, from creating dedicated channels for accessibility feedback and including the disability community in physical events and spaces to co-creation workshops and hiring disabled experts as consultants. Also, can I just say, this session had the best Q&A I've seen this week. The community came up with some fantastic questions, like "should there be a WCAG for accessibility in games?" or "Can accessibility features give unfair advantage in multiplayer/competitive settings?", and Morgan gave equally fantastic answers.
