It’s been a massive day on the mountain today, in some challenging conditions, aiming for the top step and fundraising for #MillimetresToMountains in the #2024MeetYourMountainChallenge! Towards 25km covered today with over 2km of vertical ascent, staring from 1,000m above sea level, in the Chamonix Mont Blanc massif, there was more than a bit of exposure! Incredible #TeamShip, conversations and resolve amongst our team, feeling proud of what we’ve done today, and we do it all again tomorrow!! “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” This is a quote from the great one, Wayne Gretzky. Last week, in Toronto, I got to go to the Ice-Hockey Hall of Fame, and I was more emotive than I could've imagined. Seeing his shirt, the same stick I used to use, and the quote, moved me in a big way. I read it again and again. It had stuck with me from the very day I heard it. At first, I had to figure out what it meant, then when I saw him play it all became clear. It's not about playing into the space you can see, it's about making a play that creates space others can move into. I count myself as very fortunate to have opportunity and choice as part of the work I do each day. Korn Ferry was not always somewhere that I could see myself, but if there were ever a shot that I should've taken, this was it. The people the places, the intellect, charisma, and integrity of the people I work with has always been right at the top of my agenda. The people I work with today however, take that level and raise it again. Working with the ever-inspiring Mark Richardson OLY, I never fail to learn something, whether that be a new perspective, a challenge to an existing approach, or even in the way something is delivered in order to land with greater impact. Our programme last week was with us hugely important client, with whom we have been working with for around 18 months. The programme we came together to deliver and experienced forged new connections, between content, between company and clients, and between people, offering the potential to elevate the way we think, behave and create going forward. And going forward is what we do. Not playing into the space we can see, but making a play to create the space for opportunity. Here's to that. It’s no secret that I make my well-being and movement a huge priority. This keep counts even more so when I (and fortunate enough to) travel. We have been in Toronto this week with a client with whom we have built a very special bond. It goes without saying that myself and my colleague, Mark Richardson OLY have prioritised our #HumanCapacity, in order that we can give as much as we can to this very special programme. We, along with the faculty team and the delegates, have kept a check on each other from this perspective, ensuring that we have the energy to impact, and the psychological safety to give feedback where required, to ensure we stay in the right space to elevate the group. Building on this, what concerns me is the level of focus (programmes, wellbeing apps / platforms) aimed predominantly at reducing the negative symptoms associated with poor wellbeing. Does that mean that we ACCEPT that the causes cannot be addressed? We cannot continue to work against tens of thousands of years of biology and expect there not to be problems. WHAT IF we worked WITH our biology instead of against it… ✅ Engagement ✅ Efficiency ✅ Diversity & inclusion ✅ Emotional Balance ✅ Innovation ✅ Sustainaility Let’s talk. Absolutely love this… captivating!!

I am two weeks away from a challenge that will change me. A little under a year ago, after competing in this event for the first time, we rallied a small team to go again, to take on the #MeetYourMountainChallenge for a second time. Two days in the Chamonix Mont Blanc massif, to accumulate as much distance & altitude as possible, equivalent to doing the Welsh 15 Peaks back-to-back on consecutive days, at twice the altitude! Knowing what we are going into, we knew it had to be for a cause that really matters, one that will see our contribution change lives. Ed Jackson is the shining example of this, whom after his own catastrophic accident, had to set about re-building a new life, defying the realities of the injuries he had sustained. A lesson in learning: A couple of days ago, my eldest kiddo went back to school, in year two. Instead of a quick pick up and checking in with him as we rode home to see how his day was, I was greeted at the school gates by a gaggle (insert correct collective term for parents in a state of panic) discussing the homework requirements and cadencing of English vs. maths etc. At this point, my own sense of tension ramped… just when I figured I had our rhythm nailed, things were switching up. What was wrong with riding home from school, hitting the jumps, Lego building, dinner together then dinosaur stories anyway… are they not the critical life skills for a two year old?! Apparently there is more, so now we’re both doing homework, and it’s already begun! So after day 1 of year two homework, here’s what I’ve learnt: - My important isn’t his important - My obvious isn’t his obvious - My attention isn’t his attention - My appreciation of maths isn’t his In short, just because we may have have wisdom, doesn’t mean we know better. Learning is about intent, curiosity, security, support, positive exposure, structure, freedom, ideas and experiences. Above all, I’ve realised that lessons are only powerful if we remember them for the right reasons. Meet them where they are 🙌🏻 So, we’re turning the dial… for maths we’re taking Lego up a few notches, and for English, we’re getting creative with our stories. We’ll see how that goes and work it from there. Above all, we’re both students, we’ll figure it out together, and sometimes things might not make sense to one or both of us, and that’s ok… because new stuff doesn’t always make sense first time!!
