2024 has seen many #plantbased and #circular #startups really struggle. 2025 could be even rougher. But the legislative environment favours bold new start ups. The circular bioeconomy still needs a lot more players.
It's tough out there. Really tough. So many businesses going to the wall. When you work in multiple industries, you probably see several each week. Sad to see the closure of allplants | B Corp™ Waterford Whisky Distillery Dizzie It's only two months since Material Innovation Initiative began to wind down operations. I still can't quite process that. It's been a brutal year. But some of the most promising start ups are going from strength to strength. I'm advising a handful of companies across the world, and I feel that they have all achieved important milestones in the last six months. 2025 is going to be no easier, in fact it will be tougher. But I'm optimistic - legislation will bolster numerous businesses. There is everything to play for - and many founders are much stronger than they were pre-Covid. Keeping an eye out for new ventures from many of those who were too early to market.

This week, as we gear up to celebrate Independence Day, we thought it best to honor some of America's top innovations! On July 31, 1790, the first U.S. patent was granted to Samuel Hopkins for a process to manufacture potash, an ingredient used in fertilizer. President George Washington signed this historic patent. Hopkins initiated the nation’s first patent licensing program shortly after receiving the patent. His approach included three distinct elements: publicly discussing his new method, publishing a pamphlet titled “An Address to the Manufacturers of Pot and Pearl Ash,” and offering license terms. These terms included an initial payment of $50 (or a half ton of potash in casks) and annual payments of $50 starting after three years until either $200 or two tons of potash had been paid. Innovation is the backbone of America. We've made it easy to protect that innovation. Contact our team today to protect your ideas! www.menloparkpatents.com #patents #4thofjuly #independenceday #innovation #USA #merica #founders #entrepreneurship #startups #startuplife
