One big issue is ice in the district for Nushagak River Set netters and our 25 boat drift fleet as ICE not rsw allows for a $3.00lb fresh ex vessel number 1 price. As I sit here with 7 feet of snow on the ground I am beyond step 1. ICE works to improve the quality , through compression bleeding. Then you gut and gill each fish leaving the head and collar in tact. Then we can buy the roe at $1 lb. Airlines are a full partner, I like Lynden for a bunch of reasons. Time to split the canned salmon crowd out of the fresh game , you will never get there with pumped fish. Time to bring the trollers mind set to gilnetting Bristol Bay. Quality over quantity, fish is food, kind of program. Now to actually put a small 25 vessel fleet with a floater with ice making capability , there are several ex longliners freezer boats and 1 real nice small trawler that would be a great new POLAR BEAR, Floater to stay and buy late in Bristol Bay. God could you imagine fresh sockeye silvers into late Sept. I Have the fleet, looking at plants, floaters at the moment, we also need a HQ IN Anchorage, by the new coldstorage and let's get some fresh fish, crabs, kelp to where it needs to be! Trawling is a disaster, I AM SURE, they will clean up their act, Joey B. would love to find an appropriate buyer or splinter each plant back to the community and its fisherman.
