I want to talk about ✨ Adobe MAX 2024 🎈 , the annual creativity conference. During the "MAX Sneaks" session, co-hosted by award-winning actress Awkwafina, Adobe unveiled nine experimental projects spanning photography, video, audio, 3D, and design. These innovations offer a glimpse into potential future tools to enhance creative workflows. 🎊      👓 1. Project Perfect Blend: This tool simplifies integrating people or objects into different images by automatically adjusting color, lighting, and shadows to achieve a natural blend.     🔎 2. Project Clean Machine Designed to remove unwanted visual elements such as camera flashes or transient obstructions from photos and videos, this project ensures cleaner and more professional visuals.    💡 3. Project In MotionUtilizing generative AI, this innovation allows users to animate custom shapes into videos by simply describing the desired outcome, streamlining the animation process.     🔦 4. Project Know-How: This project aims to enhance content provenance. It employs fingerprinting and watermarking techniques to trace the origins of images and videos, even when metadata has been removed, thereby promoting transparency and trust in digital content.     🔂 5. Project Turntable This feature lets users rotate 2D vector art in a 3D space while maintaining its 2D appearance, offering new perspectives and creative possibilities without redrawing.    ✴️ 6. Project Super Sonic is an AI-driven audio tool that generates sound effects based on text prompts or by analyzing objects within a video, allowing for intuitive and precise audio enhancements.    ⚛️ 7. Project Scenic: This project facilitates 2D image creation by enabling users to build and manipulate 3D scene layouts using prompts, providing greater control over composition and perspective.    🆙 8. Project Remix A Lot Transforming rough sketches into polished designs, this tool uses generative AI to guide users through the creative process, adapting designs to various shapes and sizes while maintaining stylistic consistency.    🛜 9. Project Hi-Fi: By capturing any part of the screen as a reference, this project leverages AI to quickly generate high-quality images that can be further refined in Adobe Photoshop, enhancing productivity and creativity. Personally, the project turntable is my favorite. Its ability to rotate 2D vector art in 3D space opens up many creative possibilities without needing extra redrawing. Adobe workflow today before AI is night and day. 1. Create a reference image for your composition. 2. Upload it to Adobe Firefly 3. Bring your result into photoshop 4. Finish with your details. Years ago this creative assets would’ve taken on an entirely different look.

As I watched the Adobe MAX demos, a wave of emotions washed over me. Excitement, yes, but also a twinge of nostalgia. This AI isn't just a tool; it's a creative partner, breathing life into rough sketches, adapting styles across canvases, and reshaping designs at the speed of thought. For the problem-solvers among us, this is a game-changer. It frees us to focus on the 'why' instead of getting bogged down in the 'how'. But for those who've built their careers on technical craftsmanship, it's a wake-up call. The truth is, this technology will reshape our industry. Some roles will evolve, others may disappear. But let's not see this as a threat, but an opportunity to elevate our craft. To my fellow designers: our value now lies more than ever in our unique vision, our ability to understand human needs, and our skill in crafting meaningful experiences. The bar for creativity has indeed been raised, but so has our potential to create impact. As we stand on this precipice of change, I'm reminded of why I fell in love with design in the first place - the power to bring ideas to life. This demo from the Adobe MAX conference last week gave me new hope for practical creative uses of generative AI. You don't need to be a graphic designer, or an Adobe user to get the nuance behind why this is important, and it's all around a the computer vision occlusion problem. As humans (Right? We’re all still humans? Good, just checking.) when we see an object, we can move ourselves around it and change our perspective. By contrast, when you show a computer an image, it cannot simply look around it to see what’s behind it. Show it a flat image of a horse, and it doesn’t know that we would infer there are two legs on the other side. Until now. Project Turntable can do just that, and what’s more, it can draw and adapt the perspective of flat, 2D illustrations for the artist. Check out the video below. This is a great “wow”moment for Gen-AI. As part of Adobe's "Sneaks", there's no guarantee that this will make it to a final product, but it was an incredible demonstration of creative, generative AI in action. #generativeAI #AdobeMAX #ProjectTurntable
