Helping businesses create values-led, high-performing teams through a person-centered, human approach to leadership and performance | Founder of Velo Leadership | Keynote Speaker | Hospitality Leadership Podcast Host
98% of hotels and restaurants do not do this! And it is what makes the 2% stand above everyone else. Something that's the difference between success or mediocrity. Think of the number of hospitality businesses out there. All fighting for the attention of their target guests. But it's the 2% that consistently stand out again and again. So, what is that difference? Their people are 100% certain about the mission and purpose of the business. Each team member knows how they fit into that big picture. That allows them to adapt their work and decision-making. Which ultimately enhances the guest experience. That's what keeps people coming back. What are you doing to align your people with your purpose? Let me know below! #hotels #restaurants #purpose #foodandbeverage
We often talk about the importance of leaders leading by example and I really think that this is one of the keys. If top management not only communicates the company's values and purpose, but also embodies them, that's a big part of success. Inspiring with humanity, taking care of yourself as a business leader and caring about your staff can make a big difference in my opinion.
It's such a huge part of the puzzle. Forms the basis to build a culture based on values rather than rules.
And the team know what their role is in contributing to achieving the Mission and Vision!!
"Their people are 100% certain about the mission and purpose of the business". Andy Jones I think this is so true and totally needs to be led well and driven by owners or management (lead by example, train staff well, give them what they need to succeed). Know who you are (in the sense of the business knowing who it is, or what it is), and don't pretend to be something you're not. I wrote a short blog post about this maybe two weeks ago. What originally got me thinking about it was a meal I was making for friends, but then in the broader context I was thinking about the "Feeling" I get when I go into a restaurant, bakery, cafe that "knows what it is" compared to one that ... really doesn't. And the latter creates a sort of dissonance in my mind that doesn't make me want to come back.
