In my field of work there the main topic is user experience. But in order for products and services to work and perform well I think what comes first is team member experience. These are the main fundamentals of every business that wants their team members to feel empowered, safe and proactive: 1️⃣ CLARITY AROUND CORE BUSINESS STUFF - every team member has to understand company & product vision, mission, strategy, goals, objectives, KPIs, product/service benefits etc. They can not and will not buy in to whatever you're selling if these things are not clear. They will be confused, distressed, overwhelmed. No bueno. 2️⃣ ACCOUNTABILITY - focus on outcomes (what is getting done) and not on busy work (hours spent). Focusing on quality and impact of the work will make it easier to gauge how people perform. Then you can have a real talk how to get better and not overwhelm people with daunting processes, requiring them to work from office etc. in order to coerce them into squeezing single every drop of effort in the 8 hours they spend in the office. 3️⃣ HIRE WELL AND AVOID MICROMANAGEMENT - make sure you don't hire assholes with weird agendas and incompetent people. If you ever feel you need to micro manage people you either failed at hiring or you haven't provided enough clarity. 4️⃣ MEASURE OF SUCCESS - set up clear expectations from people on what, when and how things should be done. Make sure they understand what success means for their position. Tie incentives to outcomes that team member has a direct control over it. Don't move goalposts to save a couple of bucks in incentives. 5️⃣ PAY PROPERLY - if you want people to think and work towards improving your business, just pay them properly. They *can not* and *will not* do that if they are facing existential dread over how they gonna make ends meet. 6️⃣ QUALITY TOOLS - I cannot overstate how infinitely dumb it is to save a couple hundred bucks on a laptop with insufficient performance / specs for people to do their tasks optimally. Get people tools with double or more the performance over what they actually need to do their job. Having quality tools also makes people feel better. 7️⃣ REMOVE ASSHOLES - if you make a mistake and hire an asshole, don't wait too long for them to poison the well. Also, make sure you as a business owner are not an asshole. Treat people with respect, dignity and transparency.

Firstly… we'd like to wish everyone a Happy New Year. I guess many of you used the time over the holidays to take a step back and give some strategic thought to your business for 2024, e.g. the direction and how you will achieve your goals. With today being first day back at work, I’m willing to bet that for some, the real-world day-to-day actions, unplanned interruptions and demands on your time have already started to get in the way and take over. This where delegation can work hand-in-hand with strategic thinking. ✔ Delegating some routine admin and business tasks to your admin team (or hiring a Virtual Assistant 😊) creates more valuable time to think clearly and allow you to focus on what you’re good at. ✔ Delegating work to your team gives them the chance to introduce different ideas into the business. These could be new ideas that you would never have thought of, providing valuable insights that form part of your strategic thinking. ✔ Delegating work also allows you to leverage the individual skills of your team by handing over specific tasks to the appropriate person. ✔ Another benefit of delegating work to your team is that it increases their experience. It helps them feel more motivated, valued, and trusted, thereby increasing their loyalty to you. ✔ All of this adds up to increasing productivity in your business. More people involved naturally speeds things up. But more efficient strategic thinking can help bring new products or services, and innovation to the marketplace faster, increasing your business growth. Strategic thinking is a vital discipline in every business and effective delegation improves the quality of that thinking.

When the going gets tough… the tough get going. ...At least that’s what my dad always told me as a kid growing up. And it worked. It helped me out-hustle any hardship that came my way. Work ethic is an incredible skillset to have when you’re climbing the corporate ladder, working to provide financial stability for your family, and seeking success in your career. But here’s my controversial take… the work ethic required of me in 2024 is different than the work ethic my dad needed to be successful back in 1994 when he was building his business (sorry dad). Business will always work to squeeze as much productivity out of the resources (aka you, the employee) it has in order to grow the bottom line. That means business will be ON all hours of the day, every day of the year and it will ALWAYS be looking for the cheaper, more cost effective option. We need to talk about the repercussions of the 24/7 always on business model – always online, always available, always working, and information overload. Communication during the global pandemic and post pandemic has increased early morning and late evening communications across the board. And we never went back to pre-pandemic communication expectations. That is HARD. It is a burden on the workforce at large and it is causing burnout. Which is counter to productivity. So it is on you and me, the employees contributing to the bottom line of the business, to set structure and (dare I say it) boundaries around how to communicate effectively in an ever-demanding, always on, remote working environment. What are some boundaries you’ve defined in your job? ⬇

TOP 7 ESSENTIAL AND REQUIRED SOFT SKILLS IN 2024- NAVIGATING YOUR PATH AS A JOB SEEKER (PART TWO). In the previous post, I highlighted 3 core soft skills that will be most demanded in 2024. Today, I’ll discuss the remaining four comprehensively. 1.Teamwork- This is all about collaborating to achieve a common goal. It involves individuals working together, utilising their unique skills and strengths, to accomplish tasks more efficiently and effectively. You know the phrase, “Teamwork makes the dream work”? It’s a very solid statement because you will have team members regardless of your position at your organisation. No one can single-handedly handle every organisational task and expect maximum yield. Hence, it is vital to develop this skill. It involves 3 different aspects, which are 📍Communication- Actively listening, sharing ideas and providing constructive feedback. 📍Cooperation- Willingness to collaborate, support each other, contribute expertise, recognise and appreciate each other's strengths, and help team members leverage diverse skills and perspectives to achieve better results. 📍Trust—Feeling comfortable sharing ideas, taking risks, and relying on each other's abilities strengthens the team's cohesion and productivity. Importance—It reduces burnout and enhances the organisation's measurable effectiveness. It promotes work culture and drives maximum success. 2.Creativity—This is the ability to think outside the box, generate new ideas, and approach problems or tasks in innovative ways. It's all about unleashing your imagination and tapping into your unique perspective to generate original and valuable solutions. Importance- It helps organisations navigate uncertainty by creatively finding alternative routes when faced with challenges. 3.Adaptability refers to the ability to adjust and thrive in different situations, environments, or circumstances. It involves being flexible, open-minded, and willing to change your approach or mindset when faced with new challenges or changes. Adaptability allows you to navigate uncertainty, embrace change, and find practical solutions to problems. It is a valuable skill that enables personal growth, resilience, and success in various aspects of life. It is all about rolling with the punches and adapting to whatever work throws your way! Importance- It allows you to make necessary arguments and move forward positively. Continue in the comment section 👇

🚀 What if the secret to your team's success lies in mastering the art of connection? 🤝 In my experience, the most crucial factor for success in business is the ability to interact well with others. Leadership skills, financial acumen, and technical prowess all matter, but they don't amount to much without solid people skills. Our relationships drive our achievements. Research shows that strong connections among team members lead to higher productivity and job satisfaction. In a physical office, these connections happen naturally through casual conversations and shared experiences. But we often live in a hybrid and remote work world, which offer their own unique advantages but can cause challenges with personal connections. How can we get intentional about connections? ✅ Proximity Still Matters 🏢 Physical Environment: Colleagues naturally build rapport by working in close quarters, sharing lunch breaks, and chatting by the coffee machine. 💻 Remote Environment: Simulate these interactions with virtual coffee breaks, regular video calls, and a dedicated team chat where casual conversations are encouraged. ✅ Create Resonance 🏢 Physical Environment: The energy of a buzzing office can create a sense of shared purpose and motivation. 💻 Remote Environment: Develop a virtual environment that promotes strong connections. Encourage open communication, regular check-ins, and team-building activities to maintain cohesion and enthusiasm. ✅ Leverage Similarity 🏢 Physical Environment: Discovering common interests through spontaneous office chats. 💻 Remote Environment: Highlight common goals and interests during team meetings and create virtual spaces for sharing hobbies and personal interests. ❓What strategies have you found effective in implementing these accelerators in hybrid and remote environments? I'd love it if you shared some of your experiences and tips below! Let's learn from each other to create more productive and cohesive teams. #teamwork #highperformingteams #remote #hybrid #leadership #WFH ----- 🌟 Enjoyed this insight? Effective workplace goals are vital for business success. They should cascade from big objectives into smaller, achievable milestones, ensuring everyone in your team contributes to the company's success. Give team members a shared vision Share your company's vision and goals with your team to create alignment. Set individual and team goals that bring the vision closer to reality, fostering connection and purpose. High rate of success For success, set achievable, measurable goals with deadlines. Time-bound targets keep focus sharp. After achievement, provide the next goal promptly for ongoing progress. Motivate your team Assign bonuses and incentives to the goals. These could be bonuses for every goal accomplished or, alternatively, you could create some friendly competition by offering a reward for the first individual or team to achieve a set milestone for the company. Manage employee workloads Goals manage workloads, clarify expectations, and promote fairness. Each employee knows their role and strives for success, fostering teamwork. Monitor performance Goals alone aren't enough. Regular monitoring ensures progress and helps motivate employees for on-time achievements. Conclusion Having business goals and assigning individual goals is vital to keep a business progressing.
