A few years ago, my client was looking for a senior fragrance manager…. - Me: Guess what? We found this amazing talent! We Didn't check all the boxes, but their profile is sensational. - Client: Hmm, not sure. They don't meet 60% of the requirements. - Me: True, but they've got excellent communication, love new ideas, great with people, and a diverse background... - Client: I still have doubts. - Me: Hold on, let's see the bigger picture. Think beyond the resume. 💡 Client: Okay.. End of story… My client #hired the talent after three years; the talent was expatriated, proving that hiring beyond the job description can be a game-changer. 😉 Hiring managers: Take a second look at your job description, consider talents beyond the "fit," and prepare for a positive surprise. 😁

***FMCG sales talent – navigating your next steps*** This is an area where we have been operating for over 12 years, and I've now been personally hiring for over 20 years. The battle for great talent has been constant during that time, and setting up your team/business to attract the best talent is a constant challenge. If I were hiring for an FMCG NAM/SNAM today and wanted to hire the best, I would: - Be clear on my business/brand's mission, where it's going, and how it adds value. - Be clear on our culture – the negotiables and non-negotiables from time in the office to expectations around the values we're looking for. - Be clear about the role, remit, P&L, upcoming NPD, customer challenges, and opportunities for account growth. - Be clear about the development plan for the right candidates – how will they grow/progress in our business if they deliver? Are the options linear, or can they move across to other functions? - Do better than just a job description – bring it to life in either video format or a candidate pack. Seriously, hiring managers, Get Your SH... Together! Today I received yet another "Sorry, But we are looking for someone else" reply from a world-famous Clogs brand... Prior to this we spoke with Hiring manager for 45 minutes with me explaining how I built brand strategies for world's biggest sportswear brands leading to success and even international awards. And the reason was: "We feel we are looking for someone with a bit more experience in strategy/brand vision." You sure you were there with me for 45 minutes, smiling, saying how awesome my projects are and how in-line this was with the position? Probably the refusal is for the better. Working when not being listened is not what I'm looking for right now. #JobSearchHurts

In today’s competitive job market, finding the right opportunity can feel like searching for a needle in a haystack. With companies receiving countless applications for every position, standing out from the crowd has become increasingly challenging. Today I started work at OTTO Quotes as Brand Coordinator. When applying for this position, I reached out directly to the CEO on LinkedIn. Would you believe that out of nearly 500 applicants, only one person had done so? The decision to take action paid off and is what made me stand out in the hiring process. Searching for a company you can be passionate about and taking initiative can truly make the difference. At OTTO Quotes, the culture is outstanding and you can tell how much everyone cares about their work. This post is not self appraisal, but by being proactive I found myself interviewing the next day and discussing with a company who values authenticity and cares for their employees.
